TV host Ed McMahon is dead at age 86

LOS ANGELES - Television host Ed McMahon, best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on the 'Tonight Show,' has died at age 86, his publicist said Tuesday.

McMahon died just past midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, agent Howard Bragman said.

With his recent health issues, and the loss of Johnny Carson, I knew he wouldn't be around much longer... I hope he's in a better place, and reunited with all his old buddies, especially his best friend Johnny...
