My family has decided that we're going to set up camp again. It's been a few years since we lost a few Elders and have done this. My uncle says it's time again. Sooooo, that means that i'll be gone for a while, starting the day after Thanksgiving until they wear me out! lol..... i spose what'll happen is someone will make me go home!
We set up our lodges and tents, haul in our horses and then just camp while the hunters go up into the mountains after elk and moose. Family from Canada are coming! We usually have a pretty huge camp and it's always lots of fun. i'll stay behind in camp and help the other women cook, or take care of any game and hides they get. Sitting around the campfire at night listening to stories..... i've really missed this time we take as family to help provide for those in our family less fortunate. The new Elders decide who gets what meat, who's in most need and those who have no hunters get the choicest meats.
i'll take my new 18' lodge, kinda small in comparison to the 24' painted lodges!.... lol..... My uncle teases me and calls it the "baby" lodge! But, i can set it up by myself!..... grins.....
Anyway, just a heads up that i'll be gone hunting for a while..... The diehards break camp after two weeks..... i'm sure they'll send me home before that though..... lol

Thank you everone..... Had a great time, a successful hunt and going back in a few days to butcher the latest game..... It was kinda dicey for the first few days. Not enough snow and too warm, Grizzly hadn't gone to den yet, and the elk hadn't been driven down low enough. They didn't let me ride, the snow was too...... ummm....... well, it wasn't "good" snow, it was too dangerous and snowslides all over the place.. Bout froze my hiney off the last couple nights, down into the single digits with below zero windchill!
We saw lots of wolf tracks and saw lots of grizz too. The past couple of days, it looks like they might have been moving back to the high country to den.
It was a good hunt, 8 elk, 5 cows and 3 bulls (one was just short of a boone % crockett record!), 4 deer and 2 moose!

WOW! Sounds like there was some good hunting at least, though I have noticed that the season is taking awhile to turn cold, but at least they got some good game... Hopefully when you return in the next few days there will be more, and hopefully this winter season is a bountiful one!
Welcome back home, take some time to get back into the swing of things, and we will see you in camp when you are able to come in... ~hugggggggggggggles~
