Title: Winter Migration Log
Post by: RAGNAR on February 11, 2010, 11:48:54 PM
Entry One

RAGNAR

The weather is atrocious. Blowing drifting snow conditions... windchill is a serious problem.

The wagons have formed up around the empty encampment and await a break in the storm tomorrow to pull out.

One reported casualty thus far. Time will tell if he survives. Shoko is tending him.

Many have doubled and tripled up in the wagons to share heat and conserve dried dung.

People may eat as they wish... what they may have at hand. Alcohol will be left to the Healers to decide.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day.

Dung wagons will make the rounds. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences. We have a good supply, but not an inexhaustible supply of dried dung.

Weather conditions have not improved. I have decided to camp during the day when it is warmer and to roll at night when the activity will help maintain body temperature. It seems to be working.

There were no losses or casualties reported to me this night. So far so good. I still await a report on the Rider that took a spill last night. So far no word from Shoko on his condition.

We did not cover as much ground as we usually do due to weather conditions. However we did very well all things considered.

We have halted on the snow flats as there is no other better location at present. I did not wish to push the bosk to exhaustion. As it is the deep snow is causing the teams to work much harder than normal.

Camp suplies have reached the critical stage. I will be relieved when we reach Turia for resupply.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day.

Dung wagons will make the rounds. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences. We have a good supply, but not an inexhaustible supply of dried dung.

Check hands, feet, and noses closely for any sign of frostbite. If frostbite is found, seek out a Healer for treatment.

An oil and grease wagon will make the rounds through the wagons to ensure each wagon has axle grease. oil for their red lamp. and oil for an interior lamp. Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

Healers Report:

-so far there have not been any reports of any severe Frostbite, please try to make sure to take a break from riding/Driving every few hours to walk around and get your circulation going.

-The Outrider who took the spill the first night if migration is still hanging in there, his bones have been set, and his wounds stiched, and the swelling is going down, it has yet to be seen if there will be any sort of perminate damage.

--Unrelated note--

should we be using drying baskets? because if everyone grabs a bit of poo to toss into the drying basket in their wagon, [espically if we are all bunking together] a wagon with three or more people should be able to dry enought poo to offset the amout they are using to heat their wagon in the first place.

Not really considering the temperatures. The dung is soupy when it hits the ground.... freezes before it dries. If we gather it frozen... it will return to semi-soup before it dries.  Mighty soupy nasty stuff!!! It would have the consistancy of shitty pancake batter.

**Taryn's Report**
Last night Leda gave the medical wagon 2 canisters of black wine and a case of ka-la-na. I have put an order in that the black wine be used only in an emergency, and only given in a quarter serving, as there isn't that much to last long, this might last at least a hand.

I went to where the outer circle wagons are with Leticia, we did rounds through the wagons, there were some with frost bite, but they were caught early and were easily remedied. We brought back a couple of elderly men and women to stay in my second wagon, which has been set up to keep them warm and comfortable until their wagons can be tended to in Turia, if they make it through the river crossing. We also took extra blankets and furs to those who stayed with their wagons to make sure they will stay warm for now. Leticia and I will be taking turns going back and checking on them until we reach Turia.

I have been making broth and stew, though the stew is light in vegetables, and soon to be light in meat, unless something changes. I will continue to make the stew until there is no more meat left in my stores for all who wish something warm to eat.

The going became even harder as the snow deepened. We covered alot of ground once again but still not as much as we normally would.

We crossed the small river and should see the lights of Turia during our next leg if the weather is clear. The river, though small, still presented risk. All the stock's hooves and paws had to be checked and the ice cleared from the kaiila paws. The wagon wheels and axles iced up as soon as they pulled from the water. Once we advanced far enough to get all the wagons across we halted to tend to ice issues.

I rode herd duty and learned of Taryn feeding those who were in need of food. I have cut out twenty large bosk and have had them taken to her wagon since she knows best where the needs are. Feed as many as possible. If more is needed, she should inform me.

I was also informed of Leda accidentally finding a buried vacated sleen hole the hard way. She was taken to the med wagon with a twisted ankle. That is all the information I have at this point.

The hole in Raziel's dome is still collecting snow. I have hides being sewn together and when finished they will be lashed over the hole tarp style to at least block falling snow.

We started out holding our own and in good spirits all things considered. We arrived at Turia as expected, but were turned away. Due to weather conditions Turia has not had any supply caravans in some time and are not sure when any will arrive. They had no goods or food to trade with Tuchuk. Though irritated, I could not blame them for turning us away. Were I in their position I would have done the same.

Many Warriors were angry enough they wished to lay siege to the City until we could breach the walls, and loot all within. This is why they are not Commanders. The City is already cut off from supply. Tuchuk cannot afford to sit and wait. We must keep moving.

I did command and have 100 of our older bosk be cut from the herd and given to Turia as a gift.

I estimate Tuchuk had moved on about fifteen pasang when whiteout conditions hit. We did try to continue onward but it grew more risky to continue and we stopped in place. Old hides were used to try and protect the bosk from the elements. Aside from that and making sure the stock were in fair shape, nothing more could be done until the blizzard let up.

Tuchuk took cover in the wagons to keep warm. Dung, and in some cases wood from crates were burned for heat. The dung wagons will make their rounds as soon as the weather allows safe operations.

It seems the storm is starting to blow itself out as I log this report. Hopefully it will be over in another ahn or two.

I heard Leda was in the med wagon being treated for an ankle injury. I have not seen a report with more detailed information.

I am aware of three losses this leg. One kaiila that was gored by a bosk... one kaiila lost in the storm but the Rider is recovering under Sarant's care until he can be transferred to the med wagon. He was on foot for over a pasang and was at the end of his physical capabilities when he managed to locate a wagon, Sarant's, and made enough noise to get her attention. A thrall was crushed under a wagon wheel after falling in its path while trying to free the wheel of snow. No other losses have been reported.

I am ordering the last of my personal stores to be distributed and used where they will do the most good. It is not much, but it may help. 10 wheels of verr cheese and ten of bosk... a gorean weight of onions... half a weight of suls... three tef of salt... four garlic cloves... a tefa of flour... and one large jar of pickled vulo eggs. It is a drop in the bucket, but it may help those injured and recovering for a short time.

If food is needed do not be too proud to ask. Bosk will be made available.

As soon as Tuchuk can see, feed the team bosk a double ration of dried grasses. They will need it... as well as an extra portion of grain. The freight wagons will make their way through the column with these items. Place the kaiila on half rations of innards and the downed kaiila kiah has by her wagon. The same goes for the sleen.

Gather eggs from the vulo wagon, milk the bosk and verr to be used as needed.

Maintain discipline. We have a long way to go.

**Report from Taryn**

Leda was carried to the medical wagon after she left there to go check on her own wagon earlier in the day. When I found her, I saw that she was having trouble walking and had george come and carry her to the medical wagon, and Boris took her from him and brought her into the wagon, and got her settled onto a cot for treatment. She did have a slight case of frostnip that was quickly remedied by warming up both her exposed foot and toes with moist heated rep cloths, that I have soaking in a pot on one of the braziers in the medical wagon at all times, until we are safely out of the snowbound plains and into warmer weather. I wrapped her toes and upper foot with the cloth, then began to investigate the possible damage Leda might have caused to her ankle when she walked and hopped back to her wagon. All I was able to determine was that it was much more swollen than it should have been a day after the injury, but it was expected, though I was not able to determine how badly her ankle was injured, but I am hoping that by tomorrow afternoon/evening when I go and check on it again. I did make up a snow pack to lay over the swollen area for a short period of time, and her ankle is elevated. I have given orders that she may have one (1) cup of willow bark tea during the day or night, as we are low on that mild pain reliever, in fact, all the supplies are low.

I also treated a young girl for frostnip that was close to mild frostbite, as she didn't want to go back inside when her fingers started to go numb, as she was having too much fun making snowballs and throwing them at her friends. I am not sure what happened to her gloves, as her mother told me she found her daughter near their wagon with bright red fingers and brought her into the wagon instantly and had someone come and find me to come to their wagon to see to her daughter's hands. I explained to the young girl the perils of frostbite, I might have been a bit harsh in my words, but I don't wish to see anyone in my home to find out the hard way what severe frostbite can do to someones hands, feet, ears or even their noses. Though the girl was in tears when I finished my explanation I believe she will now keep her gloves on, as well as making sure that her ears, toes and nose are well covered when she is allowed to go back outside and play with her friends in the snow. I also gave instructions to her mother on how to care for her daughter's hands tonight and if blisters do form, to either send someone for me, or come for me herself and I would return. Though she is also on my list of rounds this night as well before the wagons begin moving again.

Medical supplies are low, but I am trying to ration them as much as possible. The medical kits in the wagon boxes of all the wagons are only minimally supplied. The supplies that Leda gave to the medical wagon when she first arrived, are already being used. When I am able, I will get an inventory done of what we have in stock, and which supplies are critically low.

I still have three (3) wagons with large pots of stew cooking in them at all ahns of the night and day. The outer circle medical wagon, the inner circle wagon and my own wagon are the locations, and I will be doing rounds about the wagons getting orders from those driving who might be in need of something warm and nourishing to eat tonight. My thanks to the Ubar for the extra bosk meat, I am hoping that the meat that was gotten from them will be able to get us through at least the next two hands, if not a third hand. I also have pots of broth going as well for any who wish to have a bota of that, and I will also be making the rounds of the wagons with botas of water that will be wagon temperature.

-Healers Report-

-as far as it seems, the accounts of frostbite have not been very severe, there have been several mild cases, but it seems that Taryn and the apprentices she has rounded up are keeping a good eye on it.

-for anyone suffering any runny nose/coldlike symptoms due to the excessive cold, I suggest taking a mug of warm steaming water and trying to breath in the vapors to help ease the congestion before bed, that way a good nights sleep is had.

--aditional notes--

I still have extra warm clothes if anyone needs extra, they are not beautiful by any standard, but they have been patched up well enough to keep you warm.

There are extra socks and gloves at the seamstress clan wagon, please be prepared... they do not come in matching pairs.

I returned to the wagons about midday and went over reports with Raziel. Overall it is what I expected and in many ways much better than expected. Looking over Healer reports Tuchuk overall is remaining steadfast in health and with the exception of a few incidents, they are keeping their heads and not being overly foolish.

A Kassar Warrior and his mount were found frozen beneath the snow and were marked so they would not be run over and the rider was picked up by the last medical wagon in the column. We also came across a Kassar wagon and team left behind. Team was frozen as were the Man and Woman inside the wagon. It appears they ran out of fuel for the fire as well as food. They were found sitting and kneeling around their cold brazier. Raziel had them gathered and they were given a proper pyre along with the earlier Warrior during the morning ahns. The frozen team was taken by the Butcher's Clan and the meat will be checked to see if it is fit for human consumption. If not, what can be salvaged will be used to feed the kaiila and sleen. The wagon, harness and other gear will become Tuchuk property and utilised to the utmost.

NightStorm's kaiila decided to take a bite of a thrall before last night's leg of the move. The thrall lost his privates and did not survive. His remains went to the sleen.

The next leg may prove difficult at best. Winds are building up and though it is not snowing, snow presents a serious problem from blowing and drifting.

Due to the windchill, it is almost as cold today as it has been during the nights.

Though everyone is sick of the snow, spirits and morale remain very high. I feel as long as Tuchuk retains these qualities half the battle is won.

Our food stores are now down to traditional Tuchuk fare... mostly bosk meat and bosk milk and products, minimal vulo verr and tarsk. If nothing else we do have plenty of water in the form of snow. The grains for feed and the saved dried grasses are holding up well. The dung supply has to be watched closely.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day.

Dung wagons will make the rounds. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences. We have a good supply, but not an inexhaustible supply of dried dung.

As soon as Tuchuk can see, feed the team bosk a double ration of dried grasses. They will need it... as well as an extra portion of grain. Place the sleen on half rations and I have been informed the kaiila should be good for another couple days now give or take.

Gather eggs from the vulo wagon, milk the bosk and verr to be used as needed.

Continue to double up to sleep and for warmth. It conserves the dung supply. My wagon is warm and is filling, but there is always room for more until the weight becomes too great. The med wagons are also good places to warm up but it must be understood if casualties are incurred, they take precedence.

Maintain discipline. We have a long way to go.

-Healers Report-

While injuries have been minimal thus far, there have been a ton of mild cases of windburn and people with chapped faces due to the cold, if you are beginning to look a bit tan it is suggested you stop by the med wagon for something to ease the burn.

frostbite is still soemthing we all need to remain vigilant about.

Taryn and her group are still cooking up stew whenever possisable, and she has been having people passing out portions of broth, while the broth is not filling... it is warm and sustaining, it would be a good complement to those who are munching on jerky.

the med wagon thus far as been self sufficent, we have been cooking enough stew and meat on our braziers to keep the people inside the med wagon fed and warm.

--additonal notes-

I have donated every bit of choclate I could find inside my own wagon to the tuchuk supplies, there were a minimal amount of other things, mostly spices and things of that nature. for children that have become irritable in the cold weather, a bit of choclate warmed in some bosk milk might be a treat enought to improve their pint sized morales.

if we manage to find any flour or bread making supplies within our stores it might be a blessing, while we have no ovens for baking at the moment, dumplings might prove a worthwile investment... if anyone would like to donate anything of this nature, please bring it to Taryn... dumplings would serve as a filling part to any stew.

RAGNAR

Where to even begin? I returned to the wagons around midday and unfortunately for them, called a (Oraluman) Commanders meeting. I listened to reports and updates, compiling information for the migration.

FOOD... Aside from a few precious treats held back for the children who may end up hitting the medwagons, Tuchuk is down to nothing but traditional Tuchuk fare for the most part. This means bosk products. There were six tumits taken last night by the hunters Clan as the wagons moved into the rocky ground area. These will be added to the stews in the med wagons for added flavor. The stews are hardly that. Bosk and water. Boiled bosk chunks. There is nothing but spices to be added to bolster taste. The vulo are not laying as they should, but I have decided to make them off limits for slaughter. There is grain to feed them and any eggs will be needed should they begin to lay again when we reach warmer lands. The tarsk as starting to show some weight loss. It is mostly body fat and these have been placed off limits for slaughter also. They may be needed at a later time. The verr do not seem any worse for wear. Only specific verr may be chosen on a limited basis to feed the kaiila in an emergency. In the meantime utilise their milk products in the best ways possible. Right now their milk is extremely rich.

Dried bosk (jerky) is running low. The supply will likely not last more than another day or two at best. The sleen will remain on half rations and the kaiila should be good for another day before they need fed. I have instructed another five bosk be cut from the main herd and tethered to the medical freight wagon for use when they are needed.

DRINK... Bosk milk and verr milk, and plenty of snow for water. Broth from the weak stew as available.

FUEL... Dung supplies are still holding up. We are using large quantities but if continued rationing remains as it has been, we should reach warmer lands before the supply runs out. Oil is maintaining, but will not be sustainable at this rate. Unless specifically ordered, red lamps will not be lit. Those that have candles in their wagons should begin using these for minimal light.

MEDICAL... medical logs enclosed with scrolls.

MORALE... It has come to the Commanders attention tempers are growing short among the Warriors. This is to be expected as they in fact are the first to fight when needed. This is beginning to rise to the surface. Commander Terran reported two of his command were ready to kill over ownership of a fur to be placed over the saddle to keep their asses warm and help shield the saddle from the elements. Other incidents of coming to blows are being noted. Discipline must be maintained. If necessary I will issue orders for an ahn of intense training be performed by all units when not on duty. Though this may sap their strength, it will certainly bring back their focus and enforce discipline. The Women seem to be grumpy, but holding up well. The very young are driving their parents crazy. They have been shut up in wagons more than they care to be. The old are having a hard time of it, but are maintaining as well as anyone. I have suggested the Old that are able rotate wagons, accepting the very young when possible to share their stories. It is my hope the stories will fascinate the young and create diversion. It will hopefully also help keep the Old Ones a bit mentally sharper and take both their minds off the cold and sheer boredom.

WAGON CONDITION... Thus far the wagons are holding up well enough. Minimal damage has been taken but nothing as yet that could not be solved on the move. I do however dread the rocky ground which lay before us. I think the wagons will take a beating. Make certain all wheels, tongues, yokes, and tools that are spares are easily and quickly accessible.

GENERAL... Though any loss of life is upsetting, from a military standpoint our losses to date have been completely insignificant. This weighs on my mind as I expected more casualties and loss of life under such harsh conditions. A Woman was injured in a ire last night and succumbed to her injuries. Her Man has been gone many years and was survived by her Son. He was there for her pyre this morning. He has been granted one day off duty to settle affairs and report back for herd duty. He will take possession of the wagon as her pyre unfortunately consisted of a makeshift mound with fur bedding. It is the best we can offer under these conditions. She will share her Man's wagon in Endless Sky.

Loss thus far of stock is not even worthy of mention.

An abandoned Kassar wagon was cannibalised by Raziel's command and its various parts will be used as best possible.

COMENDATIONS... Malefic for assisting the Woman in the fire related incident without regard to her own personal safety.

Kiah for inadvertently adoping an Or of Outriders and tending to their needs in the wagon she tends above the call of her usual duties.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day. Te bosk can use a good brushing/rubbing to spread their natural oils through their coats to more efficiently ward off the elements.

Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

If food is needed do not be too proud to ask. Bosk will be made available.

The teams may graze wild from the visible grasses around the rocky ground. It is not abundant, but will suffice and will extend our stores.

Milk the bosk and verr to be used as needed.

**Healers Report by Taryn**

Late yesterday afternoon an old woman was brought into the medical wagon with burns on her face, chest, arms and hands, as she caught herself on fire in her wagon, possibly trying to get warmer as the temperatures have been bone chilling cold. I tended to her as best as I could, but when I listened to her lungs, I knew her time was not long, but I did start an IV to help replenish the fluids she was losing, and also gave her a half dose of feverfew to sedate her, though not enough to knock her out, only enough to make her feel as if her pain was distant. I sat with her and talked with her about what was going on with migration, and though she was mildly sedated, she did track me with her eyes and an ever present smile was always there, until the end. I had george go out to see if she had any family and he did return with news that her son is a herder and among the bosk. I then had a recent apprentice to the healer's clan go and give him the news, and was there this morning when the pyre for her.

I have tried to do inventory on the supplies in the medical and surgical wagons, when I have a chance with various injuries and other issues take me away from such duty. Though I have come to a rough estimate on supplies. We are low on willow bark, as this is something that seems to be given out for the mildest of things, and I have put an order out that this will stop. As this can be used when other methods of pain relief are exhausted. We are still good on valerian, as this is kept under lock and key in the First Healer's office. There is no more black wine left from the two (2) canisters that was given to the clan of healers by Leda and any tea that was given to us, is also gone.

I have been trying to add flavor to the broth and stew going in the medical wagons, as well as my own wagon, but the spices are getting very low, and so I am rationing how much goes into each pot, depending on their location. I have also been rationing out the jerky delivered to the medical wagon by NightStorm a few nights ago, but that is beginning to run low.

There have been a few more cases of frostbite, but as those coming in had been told what to look for, these cases have been mild, but there were a few that were moderate and those are still within the medical wagons getting treatment. Two (2) are still on a wait and see if they are going to lose their fingers, I should have a report on that when I do my rounds of the medical wagons.

**End Report**

Did I mention I hate reports?

It was difficult getting Tuchuk up and moving for travel. There seemed to be a very lackadaisical attitude regarding the entire matter. Finally Raziel, in his oh so soft spoken way got Tuchuk moving.

The rocky ground has beaten and jarred the wagons badly. Wheels, axles, and the bosk are facing even rougher times ahead if this continues. With overcast skies blocking the moons and stars, and the usual landmarks covered by blowing drifting snow navigation has been hit and miss. I am glad I am not leading Tuchuk or it is likely we would be blowing bubbles somewhere in the Thassa by now.

Ubar did not return to the wagons, but two of the ASKARI of the forward scouting patrol did. They reported losing one rider and mount over a dropoff alonga ridge where snow had drifted to the point the edge was hidden. Though not a high drop, it was enough for the rider to be rolled beneath his mount and killed. The kaiila had to be put down due to injury. As they were walking their mounts another found a sleen burrow the hard way. The sleen was killed, but the Warrior has been seriously mauled. Ubar chose to stop there and they tended the injured as best they could. Ubar will continue today at first light seeking the best route with two ASKARI while the others remain with the injured to meet and direct the wagons. They feared moving the injured in his present condition. Though not the best eating, the warm sleen kill did fill the Men's bellies and the remainder will tide over the kaiila until more suitable nourishment can be obtained. The kaiila put down was done with an arrow shot rather than risk further potential hazard. The dead ASKARI's body was recovered and is with those who remained behind. The ASKARI will assist in directing the wagons to where the party waits when the wagons move again.

It was reported to me two Warriors from the rear guard units engaged in an unarmed combat over something neither would divulge. Both were given additional duties since they seem to have so much energy. Even though altercations have been minimal, I begin to fear discipline may break down further under these conditions. I myself am exhausted, cold, and irritable. I would not hesitate to fight over something ridiculous if I were not a Commander and required to set an example. I can imagine how the Warriors in the ranks feel.

I am thankful for the slaves that take care of our needs, as well as the support of Women who render kindness when needed and tough love when necessary. Both are invaluable.

I know a few wonder why we continue traversing this rocky ground. There are three areas of this type of terrain in this approximate area. Which one Tuchuk is in is not immediately known. One lays to the North of Turia, the second, which I believe we are currently in is Northeast of Turia and is in the general direction we need to go, and the third would be North by Northwest of where our summering camp was located and leads to mostly deep gullies and ground wagons cannot travel. The only way to know will be to get through it, or get our bearings should the skies clear. To go back would condemn Tuchuk. To wait would condemn. So we forge ahead.

The advantage to this windswept ground is the bosk are able to graze upon grass among the rocks. The wind keeps the snow cleared away pretty well. Though we have rocks, we do not have the deep snow that wets our feet and legs and freezes our extremeties. Dry means some warmth. Wet means freezing and potential death.

I strongly recommend making sure access to spare wheels, tongues, and yokes is available. Keep the wagon toolboxes free of ice and snow. Access to these may mean the difference between life and death.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day. Te bosk can use a good brushing/rubbing to spread their natural oils through their coats to more efficiently ward off the elements.

Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

I have cleared five more bosk for food from the herd to be used as needed.

The teams may graze wild from the visible grasses around the rocky ground. It is not abundant, but will suffice and will extend our stores.

Milk the bosk and verr to be used as needed.

Continue to double up to sleep and for warmth.

Maintain discipline!

I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports! I hate reports!

Did I mention I REALLY hate reports?

I don't really know where to start. I have heard earth slaves speak of a place called hell. If such a place exists, it must be here and now with ice and cold instead of flames and brimstone.

There were accidents making the transition from rocky ground to icy ground. Exact number are not yet available, though one death has been confirmed. A Hunters Clan member named Bastian was run over by the clan wagon wheel and died in Sarant's arms. He died well. He was prepared and burned upon a makeshift pyre mid morning. This seems to have affected Sarant greatly. Bastian had no immediate family. His wishes were made known that upon his death Sarant was to receive his property. His small wagon and four bosk and contents awaits her claiming. All property intact save for his finest attire and his finest weapons. They went to endless sky with him.

Several bosk have been injured due to rocks and ice. Several are badly bruised up and have joint injuries that hopefully will heal. Six that I am aware of were put down due to irreparable injury. These were turned over to the butcher clan by their owners where they can serve the entire camp as best as possible. The hides and horns were returned to the owners and the hooves went to the Glue Makers. Their gold nose rings were also returned.

There were a few kaiila injuries reported, nothing time will not cure. Mostly cut pads and broken/split claws. They will need tending but should heal fine.

No wagons were lost, but many have repairs underway.

Since the wagons failed to reach the ASKARI left on the plains ahead, I dispatched a wagon with five Outriders and a Healer To locate them and remain there rendering medical treatment and providing shelter and heat until we join up. I also ordered a half leg of bosk be sent along, as if they were still alive they will need the stew and protein of good red meat. The ASKARI sent back led the way. I hope they reached them before they passed on.

The Point Guard was relieved and those returning reported the ice was about a pasang or less before we hit snow again. I know I will be happy to reach snow again after the rocks and ice.

I have discovered something about myself. I am at home in battle. I know what to do. But there is little I can really do to battle nature and emerge victorious. I think the most I can hope for is survival of enough of Tuchuk to continue our way of life. I don't always know what to do, but it seems I must act as though I do in order to lead. That seems to go far in the morale and discipline areas. I may lose confidence in myself, but I can never afford to allow others to lose confidence in me. Now I understand why Ubar and other ranking Commanders look so weary and spent during and after migrations. This is a terrible weight to bear. I am glad I will never be Ubar. I know my limitations.

Morale is waining and the breakdown of discipline is becoming more noticeable. A fight broke out in a wagon because a Warrior coughing awakened another. Normally there may have been a grunt of dissatisfaction and then all would go back to sleep. Not this time. The Warrior has been sent to the med wagon to be treated for the cough and to get a quiva wound to his left upper arm sewn up. I have assigned the victor additional duties for the altercation.

Tuchuk was even harder to get moving than before. Even Raziel had trouble motivating with his normal methods.

The bosk are back to being grass and grain fed from our stores.

Much of the spice used for cooking is gone. The pepper left must be saved for medical use.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day. The bosk can use a good brushing/rubbing to spread their natural oils through their coats to more efficiently ward off the elements.

Go over the wagons well for damage and repair as best as possible.

Dung wagons will NOT make the rounds. Rations of fuel will be done on foot. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences. We have a good supply, but not an inexhaustible supply of dried dung.

Check hands, feet, and noses closely for any sign of frostbite. If frostbite is found, seek out a Healer for treatment.

An oil and grease wagon will NOT make the rounds through the wagons to ensure each wagon has axle grease. This must be done on foot due to conditions. Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

Casualties and injuries sustained both to people and to stock. Healers reports will be added as turned in.

All bosk that died have been turned over for food. Nothing is to be wasted. All other stock deaths are not to be wasted. These can be used to feed the kaiila and sleen.

Word has reached me of the worst casualties. An amputation in the field performed by Taryn. No further information.

The ASKARI and wagon have been reached. Merci was the first render aid and is in charge of those inside that wagon until relieved or assisted by a Healer. Bodies have been recovered and are on the wagon platform covered for the time being. Kiah is assisting Merci. I received word the Healer with them can no longer feel her toes. The ASKARI are in bad shape but are being warmed and slowly being fed broth before any solid food is given. At the time of this report there is the Healer and four ASKARI survivors.

Sarant and Merci doled out stew and water to many Outriders while on the move. All must remember that when the commissary wagons are packed and moving, those Warriors without Women or slaves have none to cook or tend their needs. If you can spare a bowl of stew or some drinking water, it will be appreciated by these Warriors. Meat is available for the asking, but cooking takes time these Warriors do not have while in the saddle.

The wagons are once again in deep snow up to the average axle. The wind seems to have eased up and drifting is minimal. Temperatures are still extremely cold.

It seems the rocky route chosen was the correct route after all. Kudos to Ubar and Commander Raziel for their navigation skills and educated assumptions.

Ubar has once again ridden forward to scout the best possible route.

COMMENDATIONS

Taryn for her medical actions in the field under extreme circumstances.

Sarant for rendering aid to so many Warriors in need.

Merci for rendering aid with Sarant to said Warriors, as well as rendering aid to the ASKARI when no Healer was available.

Kiah for assisting Merci in rendering said aid to the ASKARI.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day. The bosk can use a good brushing/rubbing to spread their natural oils through their coats to more efficiently ward off the elements.

**Report by Taryn**

Having gotten an ahn or two of sleep after making sure that the Warrior I had brought to the surgical wagon after having to amputate his hand and partial wrist was comfortable and not in pain. He survived the removal and move from the outside into the inside of the wagon he was helping well, his vitals are still strong and I believe he will heal, though his mental status might be something to keep an eye on.

I had to remove the warriors hand from the wheel and brake assembly of the front wagons, it was my first time doing such, but I had seen it done a couple of times before, and took what I had learned and put it into motion and it seems that I did well, though time will tell. I plan on staying with him in the surgical wagon, as tonight I am going to check the wound and stump and see if the skin has relaxed any, if it has, then I will set up to pull more of the skin over the stump, though I don't expect to have this process finished for another 3 or 4 days.

I have started an IV with saline solution as well as adding antibiotics to the mixture to keep anything that might have gotten in while he waited for my arrival and the time it took for the hand to be removed and to get to the wagon to sew it up. The bleeding has mostly stopped, though this morning I had to go in and repair another vein that the stitching I did didn't stay, and caused leakage of blood from that area, but I was quickly on it and got it sutured up again and so far nothing has leaked and no blood has come from the site since then.

I am gathering a few supplies that I will need in the surgical wagon, then heading back to tend to the warrior, outrider and woman. I do have a bit of good news during this migration, the outrider's woman was told that she is indeed pregnant and they should expect their bundle of joy in 7 to 8 months from now. They are both in good spirits, and the Outrider only lost half of his index, middle, and ring fingers, but his pinky and thumb are still in tact, his woman lost her ring and pinky fingers, but this news came at the right time.

----Report by Mercilayne----

I was the first to reach the ASKARI and the Healer on the plains that had been stranded during migration.  All of them were suffering from severe frostbite as well as hypothermia and dehydration.  Unfortunately all but 4 ASKARI and the Healer were lost.  The Healer could no longer feel her toes and was suffering from frostbite on her hands as well.  I found the medical kit under the driver's seat of the wagon and laid a very very light coating of Agrimony/Blue Grass healing salve on their hands and feet to relieve the pain that they were in.  All said it worked well.  I did not put it on the Healer's feet, but instead had a thrall heat some water to a temperatur that was comfortable on bare skin, not too hot, and had the Healer submerge her feet into a bowl of it for approximately 25-30 ehns before taking them out.  It seemed to help some.

The medical kit from the wagon is intact and I have only used from it a little of the salve.  I have also brought the kit from under the seat of my own wagon to use for now, hopefully it will not be needed.

So far no Healer is avaible to take over care of the worst of the ASKARI and I will continue to do the best that I can.

Carrigan came into the wagon as well and gave some extra hides for warmth, it is much appreciated!!  I am checking often to ensure that the ASKARI in the wagon are warm as well as hydrated and the frostbite is not worsening on any of them.  For tonight, they all have full bellies and a warm wagon.

Before the wagons began to move, Cassius returned from the pointGuard and reported a serious winter storm front moving across our path. I called an available Oraluman meeting and it was decided there was less risk in remaining in place than there was moving on into the storm.

I ordered an entire large bosk slaughtered for each camp area to be roasted and good red meat served. Broth and stew was made available for those unable to hold red meat. Bosk and verr were milked and this was also handed out until the quantity run dry. Dung and oil was passed around as well as a full ration of bundled grass and grain. Kaiila and sleen dined on innards of the slaughtered bosk.

All Stock Tendered were busy with stock injuries and ailments. No losses have been reported as yet. Large wagons and small alike opened their flaps to Warriors without family or slaves to tend them. At first light those Warriors returned to duty and those who stood duty during the night took their places.

Strong winds hammered the wagons and caused drifting, but we managed to avoid any new accumulation of snow.

Do see medical reports for additional information.

Ubar and an Or riding far ahead scouting have yet to return. They were expected to rejoin the wagons about midday. With the wagons remaining in place, it is my hope it is just taking them longer to rejoin us.

Dig out drifting snow interfering with Tuchuk moving out. Make ready to move when the word is given.

Too tired to even hate reports.

Just as Tuchuk was ready to move out, Tomar was gored by a bosk seriously bad. I know Tuchuk as a whole is more important than any one Tuchuk, but I took it upon myself to hold the wagons until he was stabalised and moved into the med wagon.

Once moving, Tuchuk made good time and a good distance. The depth of snow lessened and it seems to be a bit warmer. The snow packs and seems more wet. This neccesitates cleaning of wheels more often but I take it as a sign we are making a slow transition to warmer weather.

Nothing more to report at this time.

**Healer Report**

Right before the wagons began moving again last night, a yell was heard for a healer, and Taryn who was on her way to relieve Merci and whomever might be sitting with the ASKARI and the healer during the last day or two, she instead headed to the shout, when she arrived she saw that Tomar was injured. Taryn, Merci and kiah worked together to get him stabilized, as Cassius was holding the wagons in place until Tomar was taken to the medical wagon. Soon Boris and Dimitri were told to bring the stretcher to where the injured Outrider was, and shortly after they arrived, they got Tomar up onto the stretcher with helping hands of other Outriders who had gathered about the area to watch and hope for word on the young man.

As soon as Tomar was brought into the medical wagon, Taryn had Merci stay and help her with the treatment and surgery of her son, they worked on him until the wagons stopped again for the night. Taryn had sent kiah to get some much needed rest, when she noticed that kiah was a bit unsteady on her feet and slightly pale, she as I write this is still asleep in the back of the wagon, on the bed/cot next to Taryn, who is also asleep, Merci wasn't far behind.

I have asked Boris and Dimitri to bring the ASKARI and healer to the medical wagon, where they can get more care and be closer to the supplies. I will let Taryn know that they have been moved here, and that I have been tending to them since their arrival. I have been keeping an eye on not only them, but also Tomar and a few others who have been brought in for various injuries from broken bones to frostnip. Tomar slept well, and was complaining that he should be with his group, not lazing about the medical wagon when the cot could be used for someone more injured, I did explain to him that he was badly injured and came close to dying last night, he either listened to me, or felt the exhaustion wash over him, because he fell back onto the pillows that were propping him up and fell back to sleep. He did tell me he was in pain and I gave him a small dose of valerian, as well as changed his IV and gave him another injection of antibiotics.

There is still plenty of stew in the medical wagons, as well as Taryn's wagon, though all there is meat and water, the spices long gone now, but it's still hot and nutritious for any who might be hungry. I also have buckets of verr and bosk milk making their rounds early this afternoon to the wagons, as this is also a needed source of nutrients and will help keep the strength up of those in the wagons and those patrolling.

~Leticia looks over the report as her eyes close for a moment, she opens them and rolls up the parchment and heads out of the medical wagon to see if she can find either Cassius or another Commander to give this report to~

I do not know how much longer I can remain in the saddle. I am exhausted, suffering weight loss, every part of my body screams in pain except my hair and teeth. I know I am not the only Warrior feeling this way. I wish Ubar would return to offer guidance. Commander Soong should have had the duty, but he was just not able to rise from his sleep and function. His Woman is tending him but if he is no better by norning she will call for a Healer.

The wagons covered a good deal of ground. The snow is getting less and less. We did encounter a very wet snowfall.... almost a slush, but there was no accumulation to speak of. Just enough to soak us to our skin and make the going miserable once again.

If Ubar does not return by midday, I intend to send an Or out to try and locate him.

Temperature is warming and the snow is lessening. Ubar returned and has given navigation changes to get on course. He is sleeping on his wagon platform and is not to be disturbed unless Tuchuk comes under attack or his wagon is burning down.

The bosk and verr have grazed all day and are less ill tempered than before. Since they were free grazing they were given half ration of grain while the vulo and tarsk were given a full ration plus a half. 100 large bosk were culled and slaughtered for food an the innards fed to the kaiila and sleen. It was not abundant, but it seemed to satisfy their hunger for the time being.

Cassius was stood down for a duty shift by Raziel and was ordered to the med wagon. Further info pending Healer report.

One death due to old age... more info pending report.

Additional repairs made to wagons while stopped. Once we make our wintering lands and resupply at The Point more permanent repairs will be necessary.

Another Kassar body was recovered along the route after a kaiila too a taste of it. It is on the medical freight wagon platform wrapped until we reach ground suitable for pyre. We cannot spare the fuel at this stage for individual pyres for losses. All bodies will be collected until they can be sent to Endless Sky in a group.

The wagons will continue on their journey as soon as made ready. We are able to cover ground much faster without deep snow slowing us down.

**Healer Report by Taryn**

Had a son bring in his ancient father to the medical wagon after he had collapsed, while they were getting their wagon set up for the night to allow their bosk team to graze the grass beneath the light dusting of snow. By the time he was able to get his father to the medical wagon it was too late. It was his time to go, as he gave his entire life to Tuchuk, it was now time for him to watch over Tuchuk from the great blue skies above.

100 Bosk were culled out of the herd to be killed and the meat given to those of the wagons to eat tonight. I also had an order go out that the slaves and thralls in camp collars were to be given meat to eat as well, as they need to keep their strength up for the upcoming days, as well as spoke to a few of the privately owned slaves' owners asking them to also include their slaves and thralls in the meal this night of fresh meat. Merci, Sarant and Leda were working to pass out slabs of meat to the wagons so that everyone might be able to have some protein added to their diet tonight. The remaining meat will be put to the stew tomorrow, and will be available to any and all who wish to have a bowl or two. There is no spices or seasoning left, but I am going to add a couple of thick bones with the marrow which will add more flavor than just adding water and nothing else.

Cassius was brought into the medical wagon by Boris when he heard an odd sound come from outside the flap of the wagon, when he looked out he saw the form of one of the Commanders. He and Dimitri went into action, they brought him safely into the wagon, and to the attention of a healer. I have been told that Cassius is resting comfortably, an IV has been started as he's not only dehydrated, but also malnourished, though this is becoming the normal, with only bosk and water for stew and a few of the Outriders are eating what is left of the jerky, again, that is also just about gone. Leticia saw to Cassius' healing, though I have been told that he will more than likely return himself to duty once he has gotten sleep in him and some fluids.

Tomar is healing well, he has been allowed to drink broth, though he believes he's ready to start eating solid food already, but he has been told in no uncertain terms will he be eating solid food for another day or two. I have given him my rules to what will lead to him to being able to do such, and I have this feeling that if either I or another healer doesn't do exactly as I said would happen if he does as said, he will remove himself from the medical wagon and return to his unit. I hope it doesn't come down to forcing him to stay until he's healed enough to return to his unit, but he's stubborn like his mother and father, so anything can happen.

The Warrior who lost his hand in wagon wheel incident is healing well, there is some phantom pain where his hand used to be, but he is handling each new thing as it comes. His spirits are high and he's looking forward to going onto the next step, to see if he will be allowed to return to his unit or not. Though in his mind, he has set himself to being able to return, and I am not one to deny that this will happen, as that is not my place to say in the end. He has been granted to eat solid food, and tonight he will share fresh bosk steaks with those of the surgical wagon.

The Outrider and his woman will be released to my wagon tomorrow night, as their wagon is still in need of repairs and at this time can not return to it until such is done, they have agreed to stay in my wagon and help out where they can during their stay. I have an elderly woman who is going to teach his companion how to knit a blanket for their baby, and she will also give her some advice about raising children, as she is a bit scared of being a mother, as she is just my daughter, Tanna's age, though I have a feeling that she's going to be a wonderful mother.

The ASKARI and healer who were brought to the medical wagon last night are doing better, though the healer hasn't been able to gain any feeling in her toes, they are no longer white and the blisters have stopped forming. The next few days will tell the story of what her future holds. The ASKARI are in better spirits, and I have been told they too are faring better. Though I have not seen to them myself, and I only got a passing update on their conditions tonight, I will be checking in on them during my duty in the surgical and medical wagons tonight and give a full update when I am able to do so.

I have had 2 bosk taken from those which was brought to the medical wagon of the inner circle and taken out to the rear medical wagon, as well as taking one of the clansmen of the butcher's clan with the Or of Outriders, so they can use one of the bosk to make another batch of stew, which they have run out of. The other bosk will be killed, innards and guts will be given to the sleen and kaiila out there, and the meat will be cooked up for those living among the rear wagons, the hooves, horns, and bone will be brought back and given to the respective clans to use them to make glue, buttons, and other things for the Tuchuk camp.

Terran

Ubar is still resting. We didnt have a battle and his wagon wasnt on fire, so we didnt bother him.

Cassius is suffering from malnutrition and exhaustion, he is recovering nicely in the Med Wagon.

Tonight everyone got ready in a much quicker faction that before and we moved out a little earlier than expected. We moved on from the light snow-covered grounds only to find ourselves on half frozen land...it beats travelling through snow though. We made alot of ground cover, travelling bust over 110 pasang. If we keep up this pace, we should reach the River of Tears within three days. The temperature is just barely above freezing at this point, but atleast its getting warmer.

Thralls will be assigned to shovel out the verr, vulo, and tark wagons. Now that the weather is above freezing, the waste is going to begin to thaw and no one wants to smell that. Now that we have reached grasses, the dried grass we have bundled can be used to brush the bosk and kailla to help their coats and some can be put down in the aforementioned wagons once they have been shovelled.

Not long into our journey, a slushy rain began to fall. This made travelling a bit more difficult than just the ice alone. The slush/rain began to pool on the already frozen ground, turning the land into a half-mud/half-frozen mess. Though, on the up side, we managed to gather the rain to replenish our water supplies.

Another 100 bosk will be slaughtered and cooked. We will need our strength kept up for when/if the ground turns to mud. The innards are to be fed to the sleen, some can be offered to the kailla but it may not be required. The Butchers can slaughter and cut in the med wagon so Sarant and the Hunters can assist with the handing out of rations.

Full rations were given for the vulo and tarsk. The bosk and verr were able to graze off the land, so no rations were given to them.

I ask that the Women assist in the drying of clothing for the Warriors without Women or Slaves. A double ration of dung will have to be handed out to dry clothing and cook, and to take the the wet chill from the air. Ice-cold rain in this situation is worse than the snow we were dealing with previously.

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock closely when able to see during the day.

Go over the wagons well for damage and repair as best as possible.

Dung wagons will make the rounds.Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

Check hands, feet, and noses closely for any sign of frostbite. If frostbite is found, seek out a Healer for treatment.

An oil and grease wagon will make the rounds through the wagons to ensure each wagon has axle grease. Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

Make sure to make the wheel boards accessible. If the ground thaws we will have to place them under the wheels or the wagons will sink and be stuck.

Milk the bosk and verr to be used as needed. With decreased food consumption this supply is growing less each day.

Continue to double up to sleep and for warmth.

Maintain discipline!

Terran

The wagons were ready and moving just after sunset tonight. Even though it was raining and still cold, it seems as though everyone decided it was time to stop screwing around and get a move on. The ground was still frozen, though the top soil was a bit less firm due to the rain we were dealing with. Though with the continuing rain, brought a storm with it so we didnt make as much ground as we hoped to cover. The mud and rain hindered our movements.

The hooves and paws of the animals, as well as the wheels and axels of the wagons, will have to be cleaned and taken care of regularly. The grease could be wiped off of the axels by the mud and the build-up on the wheels could cause undo stress. It was the same issue we had with the snow. We did our best while moving to clear the wheels, but we had to stop to get the job done.

The wheel boards were used to get us moving once again, we will have to travel without making camp tonight to make up the time we lost trying to get everything back in order from the mud.

Keeping ourselves hydrated is key. No additional bosk were butchered, there was no time to dedicate to cooking. We will have to make due with the rations we have available. Drink plenty of water, we have plenty thanks to the rain we have been getting.

RAGNAR

The weather has warmed enoughed to be rid of the heavy winter clothing. The rain has ceased though the ground is still soft and muddy.

Tuchuk is halted looking up at the high ground overlooking the RoT. Kassar Units occupy the high ground. After a brief skirmish last night their intentions do not seem peaceful. Healer's report to be attached.

Tuchuk must travel the high ground due to unpassable areas East and West of the ground. The wagons would never make it.

Tuchuk has been on high alert and all Warriors have been at their assigned positions all night. Food was made available and was served to the Warriors.

(For role play purposes, role play will begin with it being morning tonight.)

Maintain discipline as well as general orders for good weather migration.

**Healer Report**

With the weather having turned warmer, the threat of frostbite and any cold weather injuries have fallen drastically. Though we have stew cooking in the wagon here and in the one further toward the rear wagons, we will still keep broth going for those who are still only on a liquid diet and for anyone who might wish to drink that along with water and milk that is available.

Injury reports from last night are mostly arrow wounds, two outriders were brought in after Cassius with arrow wounds in their leg and shoulder. They were tended to by Leticia who took the shift after Taryn went to see that orders of bosk distribution were done. Both of the men are resting comfortably and should be able to return to duty in three days.

Cassius was brought in by Malefic, Boris, Dimitri and george by stretcher. Taryn, Malefic and Sarant worked to remove the barbed arrow which went through his chest and into his left lung. They were able to remove the arrow with little to no trouble, and the arrow tip was complete. The lung has re-inflated and he was stitched back up, and a bottle of antibiotics were added to the IV already in place. Taryn left orders for Cassius to receive a dose of valerian every 4 ahns to keep him comfortable and also to keep him from moving around too much. Sarant took the duty of first watch over him last night, and Leticia relieved her to get some sleep.

Tomar was released from the medical wagon tonight, by Taryn, and allowed to return to duty. His wound is healing well and the stitches should be able to be removed tomorrow night.

Orders from Taryn for the distribution of the freshly killed bosk, was that all Warriors, Outriders and ASKARI were to be allowed two servings of bosk steak. Everyone else, would only be allowed one serving, if they were still hungry, there was bosk stew to eat.

**Healer Report**

The medical wagon and surgical wagons in camp are filled to capacity, and it seems that the injured have started to slow down. Those who are injured, but able to sit or walk about are being treated on the porches of the wagons, while those who are more badly injured are being treated inside.

Raziel was brought in last night by Sarant and Leticia, he had arrows to his right thigh, another in his left shoulder and various cuts and bruises. Taryn was able to remove the arrows and suture both inside and out of the wounds on his thigh and shoulder, while Leticia worked on the one that was in his hand. An IV was started, and a bottle of antibiotics were added to it once surgery was finish, and orders of pain medication have been set to a small dose every 6 ahns, to keep him comfortable.

RAGNAR came in on his own when he realized he was injured, an IV was started on him by another healer in the medical wagon, also antibiotics were piggybacked onto it, as there was a lot of mud, blood and grime inside his wounds and this will keep the infections at bay, hopefully. When Taryn finished caring for Raziel, she came over and worked on removing the lancetip that had embedded itself in his abdominal cavity through the right side. It barely missed any of his vital organs and intestines, but she worked long and with care to insure that everything was intact and in working order before removing any splinters that were floating around, before she stitched him back up and began work on right thigh, which had been sliced open by either a lancetip or a quiva. It took 15 stitches to sew up the wound, but it was nothing compared to his forehead, which had been split open by either another helmet or something hard, but that took 25 to stitch up, and he will have a nice scar to show off to all the slaves when it heals.

Wapike came in later when he was finally urged by Boris to have himself seen to, Leticia took him to a cot, where she started an IV mainly so he could receive a dose of antibiotics, while she removed the arrow from the calf of his left leg, and the arrow wound left by the arrow which he removed on the battle field. He also received 15 stitches to his right forearm where a quiva had sliced the flesh open and another 20 stitches to his left shoulder where another wound had been found from a quiva that had been removed by one of the men, there was a bit of muscle damage, but that has been seen to and treated. He is resting comfortably, and if he is in any pain, he can have willow bark to chew on, but no more than 3 doses a day, as that is the one thing we are really low on.

Terran and others were taken care of either outside or in the surgical wagon, and will get an update on them when one of the healers make their rounds, when they are able.

Inventory is really low, the 3 bolts of cloth that Taryn had grabbed from the supplies given to our clan by Leda came in handy last night, but everything else is getting to critically low.

Willow bark and lavenia are low, but if rationed they will last for a while longer.

We have enough valerian to keep the injured comfortable for another hand, but we do not think it will be needed that long, except for those who were severely injured.

There is no estimate able to be given on the amount of injured at this present time, but the hope is to have something by the end of tonight.

Kassar were holding the high ground and demanded two thirds of our herd  to allow us to pass. Needless to say this would not happen. The slope could be taken by stock but not at speed. It was assaulted in Oralu waves. Casualties were heaviest in the first wave and lessened with each consecutive wave. Survivors of the first wave did reach the high ground and hit the Kassar line allowing the second and third waves to also reach the ground. Fierce fighting ensued and at the end Kassar was defeated with many taking flight.

The remainder of the day and night was spent dealing with casualties and clearing the ground so the wagons can pass.

No full reports are yet available in regards to losses as figures are expected to change.

All Oraluman of the first three waves suffer wounds. No Orluman of the first wave survived and only one Orman survived.

697 Kassar have been taken, killed, or wounded. The rest of the thousand had to withdraw.

None of our herd was surrendered or taken. No combat damage to any wagons was sustained.

(RP will being this night with it being morning.)

ORDERS

Tend the wounded and clear the field of all bodies and gear as to cause no harm to the stock or wagons.

The dead are being collected and held in the medical freight wagon for proper disposal or claim by family members.

Make ready to move out as soon as possible. Tuchuk will attempt to cross the River of Tears as to not meet potential Kassar interaction while crossing.

Wishes are nice but actuality is harsh. It was not possible to move on to the RoT and make the crossing. There was too many details to tend to and exhaustion played a dominant factor. The wagons will roll tomorrow and try to make the high ground and stop at the RoT crossing... rest... and cross the following day (Wed).

Many of the dead have been claimed and the sorting of Kassar from Tuchuk dead has been completed. The process of cleaning the dead is almost finished and dressing them in their finest and arming them is well underway.

Hundreds of Kassar kaiila have been taken in and are being dealt with by Lilac, Wapike, and their Clans.

Tomar was found by Wapike wandering through the wagons in a total daze... his helmet dented to his head to the point removal under normal means was impossible. In his mind he was still in battle from his shouts of encouragement to keep going and attack. Wapike... in all of his infinite wisdom borrowed an iron skillet from his Mother Lilac and smacked the helmet from Tomar's head and took him to the med wagon for treatment of his head wound.

Bosk were slaughtered and whole sides set to roasting for food. Weak stew was made available for those unable to eat solid red meat.

All Healers and Surgeons worked, including those retired Clan members to tend to the wounded. Kelsey and Amber both have reported there are no more materials suited for bandages. Used bandages will have to be cleaned, boiled, and reused. There is no more valerian, and the willowbark is down to only fifty doses give or take. The salve is down to ten tins.

I have sought Ubar's permission to release what limited kanda we have for medical use. He has granted it only for the worst cases... only under close supervision... and only with Healer approval if no other pain relief is available. I leave it to the Healers discretion to allow medical rations of our remaining paga supplies to the wounded only if they may ingest it safely.

Kassar saddlebags are being searched for medical supplies. There is not much to offer from those except for basic suture kits and some sort of pliers I have seen used for arrow tip removal or pulling of teeth. I imagine the Kassar were intentionally travelling light except for weaponry and extra arrows.

Some spices were obtained such as salt and pepper were gained from personal stores in the saddle bags. These were added to our stews and to the roasting bosk until it ran out.

I spoke with Ubar and Commander Raziel in the medical wagon. Both have determined they will vacate the med wagon come the morrow to tend to their duties.  Commander Terran was sleeping restlessly and was not disturbed. Cassius still sleeps recovering from his wound. Wapike has removed himself from the wagon to make room for others in greater need than himself. I personally feel he just hates the med wagon.

Tend the stock and the wagons. Tuchuk moves come the morrow. Rest as bet possible and eat well. It is unknown when we may get to dine this well again.

Healer reports still pending.

**Healer Report by Taryn**

I have received word about the kanda and paga and though those are the one things I am not very happy about using, I know that there comes a time when they must be used, or let any who are still in much pain from severe wounds, suffer needlessly. Leticia and I will be supervising the dosages to those who are in such pain in the medical wagon and at the surgical wagon Amber and Kelsey will supervise the dosages there.

Now that all the wounded have been tended to, we are beginning to return to normal duties ahns, though with the amount of wounded in all the medical wagons, healers will be doubling up and making rounds of the wounded.

Tomar was seen by Leticia, he's got a concussion and when he woke up late late last night, he was a bit more orientated then when he was when found by Wapike. He also received a couple of stitches to the cut caused by his helmet when whatever hit it to cause the injury. Leticia expects him to fully recover, but for now, he's getting some much needed sleep, though both she and I expect him to be up and out of the wagon by the time the call comes to begin the crossing of the RoT. His stitches were also removed by Leticia after she finished tending to him, as he hadn't brought himself back to the wagon to have them removed when he was supposed to.

I took time away from tending to wounded yesterday to help sort the fallen Tuchuk and Kassar Warriors in the empty medical freight wagon and with a lot of help from Merci, Leda, Sarant and Melanie we were able to get this done. Merci, Leda and Melanie learned how to clean and re-dress the men of Tuchuk who didn't have families to claim them, as well as the Kassar, for their pyre.

Leticia gave me a report of a meeting between Soong, Raziel and RAGNAR that took place in the medical wagon and informed me of their intent of leaving the medical wagon, I told her that wild kaiila couldn't keep them there long, and I was content with how long they have stayed so far, so when she returned to the med wagon, she was to remove the IVs from them, except Terran, who will be on a wait and see basis, and give them my blessings to leave the wagon, and tell them I was happy they stayed as long as they did.

Cassius' wounds are healing nicely and if things keep going as they have, I see no reason he can not be released later today to tend to his duties, as he has been restless and saying he's taking up space in the medical wagon, which could be used for someone more injured than he. But I have been able to talk him into staying a little bit longer, and as he's eating much more than he did the first night he was given a bosk steak, I don't see anyway of keeping him there for much longer.

Also I have sent orders out to those roasting the bosk, that the men who do not have injuries that keep them from eating fully solid food, to be given two servings of the bosk. The injured who are eating weak bosk stew, if they are able to handle it, they too will be allowed two servings. Only those who are on broth are not to have seconds, as I know there have been some not able to even hold down the little bit of broth they have been able to drink.

I have not been given word if the bosk or verr have been able to be milked since the battle two days ago, though I am hoping enough time has passed and that the fright I am sure the had with that has now passed, they might be able to give milk, though with the low quanities of feed and grain might have also taken it's toll and they might be too weak to milk.

The Dead were Honored with a Pyre this Night as Many young and Old, seen and Unseen paid there respects to the Fallen Warriors that had given so Much.. The BlueSky Song was heard throughout the land, it was an Honor to see a sight and a fitting Honor to let all our Brethren and Fallen Brothers Know they will always Be Tuchuk and We thank them for what they have done....

After the Respects and the Pyre was completed, Tuchuk made haste and headed out towards the bank of the River tears.. the Incline was steep leaving our Bosk straining to pull the wagons and our Kaiila staining against the smell of blood.

We made it to the Banks of the River Tears

Camp was set up and Preparations were started....

ORDERS...

Tend and care for the stock.

Go over the wagons well for damage and repair as best as possible.

An oil and grease wagon will make the rounds through the wagons to ensure each wagon has axle grease. Those who still have their own stock should use it before taking from the general stores. Take only what you will need. Anyone taking more than necessary will face serious consequences.

Watch Commander

Raziel

At first light, Tuchuk made ready to cross the River of Tears.  Ubar ordered the lightened freight wagons to maintain their position in the column rather than risk their potential danger due to such a light load.  The river betrayed a beast under the murky surface as its undercurrent forced most of Tuchuk off their line and teams were struggling to maintain.

Reaching the North Shore, I have set the perimeter and marked where the wagons will be encamped.  As is expected we are all exhausted and needing rest.  Most of the morning was spent as the wagons forded the River of Tears.  By afternoon security is set and a working patrol has perimeter watch.

Ubar rests where he made shore, more like, passed out like I feel like doing as did his mount.  I have set 2 Askari on watch over him to not be bothered while he rests.

Casualties are not known at this time but I expect an accountability report soon of all things lost.  A healers report will give us an estimate of those missing, injured, or passed on.  I expect these by nightfall.

Standing Orders as as follows:

Wagon maintenance - go over needed repairs, cleaning and/or securing - lure needs axles apparently.  Female slave drivers.

Animal care - maintain health, and feeding

Tend the wounded - do not let hyperthermia set it.  Dry yourselves soon as possible

Fires - controlled fires for groups for warmth and dry what can be dried

Oil and grease wagon will make rounds.  Maintain, maintain, maintain.

Clan of Herders and Butchers will cull 100 bosk along with those lost to the River or wounded enough to be put down.  Eat and retain your strength Tuchuk.

Maintain Discipline and rest up.

**Healer Report**

As the first wagons got out of the river and onto dry land things were going well, then they started coming in, slowly at first and then at the end it was like a tidal wave of injuries. With most of the healers had rode in the medical wagon to be there to help the injured warriors inside and that came to be a good plan, as the water came through the door in waves, and soaked any and all who were confined to cots. Once we got onto dry land, the cleaning and green powder was put use to wounds that had been hit by the river water, as we have no idea what might have been churning through it, we also gave small boosters of antibiotics to them as well.

Raziel was tended to while he wrote his report, his wound was cleaned out as best as possible, torn stitches removed and the wound restitched and there should be enough green powder inside to kill off anything that might want to take root and form an infection. He was released back to duty as he wouldn't take time to rest, though Leticia said not to push him, he would do so when he was able to, and when the wagons where somewhere safe.

Silvina, one of the new First Healers of the outer circle wagons had rode with the first wagons medical wagon, having here with us was sky sent. As soon as the medical wagon stopped in it's position for the night, she was out of the wagon and out tending to those coming up the river bank, tending to wounds as best as she could and having them taken to the medical wagon to be fully seen and tended to. Though, when she saw Ubar asleep where he and his mount fell in exhaustion, she did check to see if he was breathing and when she determined he was alive, began to work on tending the pulled stitches in his side and abdomen, removing them, cleaning out the wound and then after applying green powder into the wound, she restitched it so when he woke up later, he would be ready to continue doing his duty to him home and family.

Sarant was brought in by Boris, who had Taryn in his arms, who apparently passed out from exhaustion even before she crested the northern river bank, she is still sleeping in one of the cots that Boris had deposited her at and Leticia looked her over for wounds or damage, but found nothing and left her to sleep, as she went to check on Sarant, and the baby boy she held in her arms, refusing to allow anyone take him. Boris and Leticia were able to get the story from her as Leticia repaired the damage to her big toe, which had been split open from the top and down through the nail to the bone from a plank of wood that caught it in the river.

Leticia also looked at the baby boy, who was soaked through with river water, she changed him into a clean outfit that she had, from the days of when her son was that age and this was the only time Sarant would let him out of her sight, and another healer saw to redressing both Sarant and Taryn into dry clothes as well, after Sarant's toe was bandaged, then some milk was brought to her so she could feed him, then she fell asleep shortly after burping the baby.

Reports of wounded, killed and missing are still being reported and either Taryn or Leticia will have the numbers either tonight or tomorrow morning.

RAGNAR

Migration has officially come to an end. It was the hardest move in my living memory but Tuchuk survived and displayed the courage and stamina I expected.

It may be days before the final figures and reports are in. These will be compiled and added.

Our wintering lands are green and beautiful. Abundant grass for our stock, abundant game seems to be available. Pack away the winter clothing and enjoy the warm weather.

Setting up camp is well underway.

Wagons and Warriors along with the inner circle are forming up for a resupply venture to The Point. Time for work and for some play.

Well Done Tuchuk!!!
