FOXBORO —  Tedy Bruschi, whose 13-year career included an inspiring return to the New England Patriots eight months after a stroke, announced his retirement during an emotional press conference this morning at Gillette Stadium.

Bruschi was accompanied by his wife, Heidi, coach Bill Belichick, team owner Robert Kraft and president Jonathan Kraft.

“Over my career I've worked so hard to make this day a celebration,” Bruschi said. “I think of everything I've wanted to achieve and I've achieved them all.”

(that full article and many more are found all over the web)

i remember when he had his stroke and how time stood still and it really made you think of how little importance football can sometimes hold, just praying for the man to recover and return home to his family and not caring one breath if he ever played football again but he did!. the rest is history as they say and he will forever be remembered in the storied tale of the New England Patriots
