The Legacy has continued.
« on: January 04, 2010, 07:41:02 PM »
Most of you know that I am prior military... US Navy.
Well the Legacy of wearing the Blue and going to sea is now continued... at 9 am tomorrow morning my son will be sworn in as a Us Naval Sailor.

We are a Military Family.  My Brother retired from Active Duty Air Force not long ago..... and His youngest son also.... has chosen to take the oath and wear the Air Force Blue.  He currently is overseas assigned.

This brings a lot of emotions out to deal with.  alot of memorys as well.  This is partly the reason of my absence of late as well as many other personal reasons.  I will ask that you please remain in support of those that volunteer to stand the watch and guard the walls of our freedom.

I leave you with this.

Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
for those in peril on the sea.

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky,
Be with them always in the air,
In dark'ning storms or sunlight fair.
O, Hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air.
Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

You must be very proud, Shylina, and you have good reason.  I also understand the mixed feelings, and I am sure that those that loved you had similar feelings when you went away to serve our wonderful country.

My family is also military, although I didn't serve...I was turned down because of asthma.  My son did something I didn't, he lied about his asthma, and served 3 tours of Iraq as a Marine Rifleman.  He is out, now, after being injured, and is working as a firefighter at the local Naval Airbase.

I am active in Blue Star Moms, and we send packages, and prayers to all who serve.

Thank you for posting the words to the Navy Hymn, I get tearful whenever I hear it.

Be well.
