FOOTBALL TIME!!!
« on: August 09, 2012, 06:47:22 AM »
The regular season kickoff is only a few weeks away.

To celebrate this time of year, and to say thanks to our WEBMAZE family, we will be kicking off a football contest for any who wish to participate.

The contest is simple.

The schedule for the week will be posted in the football section of the message board.

Make your picks for the week and the person(s) who has the best record of winning picks at the end of the Superbowl wins a six month membership from Buddha to WEBMAZE.

In addition, each week a "Game of the Week" will be chosen. Guess the winner of the game correctly, as well as the winning team's score or closest to it, will win a month's paid membership. This can be won multiple times by any contestant during the regular season. So each week there will be a winner.

Games postponed and/or rescheduled will be counted when they are actually played.

If there is a tie at the end of the Superbowl, the Pro Bowl will be used as a tie breaker. The tie breaker will consist of calling the winning team and the winning point spread of the Pro Bowl. If the spread is not exact, then the closest contestant to it wins the six month membership. If this still results in a tie, then those who tied will both receive a six month membership.

Any games actually ending in a tie will not be counted for, or against a contestant's picks.

All contestant picks must be posted before the kickoff of the first scheduled game of the week. The scheduled games will be taken directly from the site of the National Football League.

Once posted, picks cannot be altered.

So check out your team during pre-season and get ready to compete.

I will not be participating in the contest for the six month membership this year in order to allow someone else to have a shot at it. I will, however, be competing for bragging rights and the weekly prize.

I need to take some time to go over the team reports and see what I am looking at this year in the terms of choosing teams. With the massive trades, drafts picks and such that have happened during the off-season, so things are a bit jumbled up, and this includes my own team, the San Diego Chargers, but I think what they did during the off-season might be the best thing that they could have done since they made the team that went to the Super Bowl back at the end of the 1994 season.

I would like to see my team make it to the Super Bowl before Ray & I celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in 2014. LOL I will keep my hopes alive that Smith and Turner haven't completely screwed any thoughts or dreams of such a team to do such in the next two years, then again, they fail to produce this year, then they are both out (though I think they should have been canned during the off-season after last year's season, which was a complete and utter disgrace) of a job. I can dream can't I, of a completely clean slate for the coaching and General Manager slots.

But all in all, I have a bit of research to do in the next couple of weeks, so when the new season starts I will be armed with a better idea of what this football season holds. ~grins~
