Slackin' on My duties
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:37:18 AM »
I'm sorry everyone, for not having a menu up.  It started out as school just kicking My ever loving arse.  Then it got worse.  Last night I was saddling up to go for a nice ride and my horse decided to try to go play without me.  He got his saddle horn caught on a wire strung between two railroad ties embeded in the concrete in the ground behind the barn (they help hold up the bars for the stalls).  When the saddle got caught, Buster freaked out and lunged forward, hauling the railroad tie out of the ground and winding the wire arround his legs.  I got back there to try to calm him down and make him hold still while my mom tried to cut the wire from around his legs.  He was in such a panic, his flailing sent the railroad tie flying into the side of my head leaving me with a swolen right side of my face and my very first fully fledged shiner.  I get dizzy periodically and have a headache from hell, but otherwise I'm okay. Buster, however, is quite scratched up, needs all four legs wrapped and his front left leg, right under his chest, is striped bare from the wire and the skin is bleeding.  It's almost like a burn, but worse because the flying railroad tie beat him all over.  So the days to come will tell if he makes it through...Our biggest concern is rabdo from the muscle trauma, but as I said, time will tell.  His treatments take quite a bit of time so I apologise for not being here much in the week or so to come, but I'm just not sure what I'd do if I lost my Buster.

My apologies for slacking on my duties. I love You Aall and will return as soon as I can...I'll try to pop in and out as well, just to say hi and, assuming Buster is recovering well, to rp some.

Love

Oh, God... I'm a horsewoman, myself, and I can only imagine the worry you feel for your animal.  I recall when I was fourteen and my Appaloosa gouged out a chunk of shoulder muscle on his stall door latch.  It was touch and go for a few days, between the infection and wondering if he'd ever have full use of the shoulder -- and hence the foreleg -- again. I'm happy to say that he recovered and lived to the ripe old age of 28 or so... I hope that your Buster does the same!

Living in the land of sun, sand, and Thassa breezes, where the only rule is common sense.  What's not to love?

Thank you all for your well wishes.  So far he's doing well...I went out and did some hydrotherapy on his wounds and extreemly swolen legs.  He limps a bit and walks slow, but he seems to be okay.  He puts his ears up and repeatedly searched me from head to toe for treats throughout the little walk we took, the hydrotherapy, and the redressing process.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  And dee, I hope I have the same luck with Buster as you did with your appy.  I'm sure my appy mare Babe hopes she gets the same luck too!  I'll have to post pictures of the "kids" some time...
