If I could Turn Back Time....
« on: August 20, 2007, 10:29:11 PM »
I'd make it so my munchkin never learned to walk. *laffs* Yep, she started walking July 21st, and she's got it fairly perfected. her main problem is she doesn't look where she's walking, and so steps on one of her toys, loses her balance, and topples. *chuckles* I'm assuming she'll learn on that one, in the mean time tho, we have tons of bruises, and fat lips. At the moment she's got a gorgeous shiner under one eye!

Let's see, I haven't really posted what's been going on in my life for awhile. Roy came home less than a week before the Gathering, so I got to go to that. Since then, we've been doing a lot of the family thing. Of course, we had the major issues. The SUV, which I paid 800 bucks a few weeks before he came home to get a solenoid replaced, broke down again. THIS time, the whole Torque converter ummm.. disintegrated. We took it to a different place and basically said, "did ANYTHING they do cause this to happen?" Unfortunately the answer was no.The guy at the shop was disappointed about that since he didn't like the shop I went to last time. Anyway, 2 grand later, we have a totally reworked transmission (the case was still good, just the insides needed replacing) with a warranty and everything. It's an old SUV with a lot of mileage.. guy said it was just due.

So, we're recovering from that, and literally a week and a half later, during the LUVERLY heat wave we've been having, the AC on the house dies. totally. Not good. So, call in a guy. compressor never got hooked up right when we got the furnace installed. *mutters* Compressor has to be replaced, BUT, since we haven't paid for a Trane person to come do maintenance on it every year (stupid rule, even dad, who used to do refrigeration work says this is a stupid new rule), the warranty is NULL AND VOID. ARGH! So... 1800 for a new compressor, and the unit STILL won't be under warranty, or 2300 for a whole new unit, which WILL be under warranty (as long as we get annual maintenance). Gee, guess which one we went for. Soooo... this was tuesday. Thursday they installed a new AC. By the time they finished, the house was 88 degrees. Not good for mommies OR kidlets. Took 2 days to get the house back down to normal because it had to suck out all the humidity too.

So, yeah. fun summer. Good side, kidlet has a pool so we do lots of splashing around in that to get cool. The tree in our front yard loves it because it gets all the water when Kym's done in the pool. Since Roy has been home, and that's about a month and a half... we have had MAYbe an inch of rain. Our lawn is dead. totally dead. Add to that 95+ temps and Soooo not a fun summer. The dogs rarely come out of the crawl space anymore. So yeah.. the tree loves it when Kym gets to play in the pool. Poor tree is already losing leaves!

The good things tho... Roy got a new MP3 player that also has a large screen on it to show off pics of the kidlet. I got a new graphics card.. yay! ATI Radeon x1650 Pro. It was on half price at Best Buy. *grin* AND we rediscovered Panera Bread's bagels. OMG!! If you live near one, you have GOT to try their Assiago Cheese bagels. to DIE for. Works great as a sandwich, burger bun... or just toasted with cream cheese.... I recommend the chive and onion flavoured one. Their Cinnamon Crunch is pretty good too! Oh, and they make homeade cheese danish's too... yummy! And I guess its a good thing that Kym is walking... *chuckles* It means I'll be investing in a child's harness in the very near future tho, cuz there is NO WAY I'm letting her out of my sight in a store.

Anyway, that's where I've been and what I've been doing. *grin* Yay me! And now I'm going to bed. Oh, if anyone wants to see all the latest pics of the bratchild from hell, here is her personal photo album. There are 60 pics in it, which means its' full now, and that in the near future there will be a Kym 2 album available. *laffs* http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3623&l=b4d1c&id=653206174

Greetings, girl has not gotten the chance to meet You, but figured she would reply anyhow. *smile*
(apologies for not speaking as a slave, but it is hard when doing a response as such.)

I remember "kiddy-proofing" my home when my daughter began walking nearly 19 years ago. (God, has it been that long already???) We had the styrofoam cut out on the corners of practically everything. We had the worst bedframe too, and I'd always hit my hip on it, so I was thankful when my husband put it there. Saved me a lot of bruises that year.

Car troubles? ARGH. Doesn't it aggrivate you, and money has a way of really biting you in the ass. You are doing well for so long, and then 4 or 5 things happen all at once. Is your SUV one of those gas guzzlers too? After my daughter graduated I got a small car, because I don't have to drive her around to her sports events, or carpool anymore. It's a Scion, heh- tiny and really nice for the price, but am sure if you got in an accident it'd be bad given its size.

I'm in Arizona, so I know *all* about the heat and not having AC. By law we must have AC, and after this summer I think ours is about to bite the dust. Last winter, the water heater leaked through to our bedroom, and we got mold. Isn't that lovely? Then, they didn't ever put back the baseboard, so for months it just kind of sat there, because my husband isn't the most handy of guys. Just don't tell him I said so.. *laughs*

I just got a new graphics card too, went from a nVidia 6200 to 7800. I'm really happy, and considering I spend a lot of my day playing games (WoW, NWN, ect.) it's been a lot of fun!

On an ending note, I loved the photos of your baby, absolutely adorable!

girl wishes You well, and prays that Your life smooths out, she will light a candle for Your prosperity, and SUV. *giggles*

*chuckles* yeah, my SUV is a gas guzzler. It's a 99 Ford Expedition.. one of the BIG ones. But it fits all her stuff, and all the stuff we bring home from Sam's. Shopping in bulk is the only way to go. We have a little Plymouth Breeze that we use when just one of us is going somewhere, so that helps with gas a lot.

We've discovered that kiddie proofing, isn't all that different from KITTY proofing.. the cats get into more trouble than she does half the time. As for the bumpers, we haven't had to do that. The coffee table has rounded edges and the couch is well padded... except where the cats have scratched it.

Your hubby is bad about projects too?! *grin* So is mine, altho my dad is worse. Their AC died umm... 5 years ago... he got the new coil for it 3 years ago, and this summer he finally installed it. They're in Canada so they didn't need it quite as badly, but sheesh!

I looked at the 7800, but I had an ATI card originally... Radeon 9600... and a lot of people, Geek Squad guy included, said that unless you get ALL the ATI stuff off your computer, switching brands can be a real hassle. I decided not to mess with hassles. I needed the card because I got Caesar IV for christmas and the 9600 just wasn't able to play it. Even on the lowest resolution it was still locking up a lot. Caesar is the highest pixel game I play. After that it would be a toss up between Zeus and Pirates. *chuckles* I like macromanagement games... what can I say.

I'm looking forward to meeting ya and thanks for saying kidlet is cute. *chuckles*Most days I agree with you.
