Life is so not fair
« on: October 06, 2008, 04:33:09 PM »
OK, so good news bad news time. Bad news, my motherboard fried last night. And, lucky me, my board is old enough that a new board is not going to be compatible with any of my ram, CPU, or graphics card. I took it to a shop to diagnose it, in hopes that it was just a flakey power supply, but nope. No such luck. So, I'm on hubbys puter for now, which means no access to any of my files, my avs, nuttin.

Now, the goodnews is, well... I get to get a new computer out of all this. *wrygrin* The shop here can fix me up with a custom job, with an Intel processor, 1 gig of Ram, and 160G hard drive for 500 bucks. Which is pretty darn good. For an extra 80 he'sgoing to upgrade my graphics card to one that is games friendly. So, all in all, this is going to cost about 600, which still isn't too bad. I'm just notlooking foward to reinstalling ALL my programs again... fortunately he'll be able to get my accounting data and all of kidlet's pics and suchoff the old hard drive, so that's a relief.

So yeah.. *sighs* fun stuffs.

sounds good Mistress
..you can not grasp it.

Not bad at all...safe to bet that 160 bucks is for the hard drive alone.

Ouch, $600 bucks for that?

I got one for $300 bucks with 2 gigs of RAM and the graphics card.  That was from CompuZone before I started building my own.

Yes well, things have changed yet again. Hubby looked around online and he can find a perfectly good motherboard with 4G of ram for 250... so... canceled  the new computer... could since he hadn't started working on it yet... and hubby walked me thru installing my hard drive on his puter to keep me fromgoing totally insane.Good thing he's due home in 2 weeks and then I canget my puter put bsack together. It looks so sad sitting beside my desk. The cool thing is, this new motherboard has an ESATA port, and we just happen to have a spare 320G external drive lying around.... so guess who gets a 320G hard drive!!!  ;D

grins.  our lap tops came with 180 gig  and  a couple months back walmart  clearenced out 320 externals for 79.   So I see your 320 and raise you 180  lol...  Glad hubby will be home.  When my motorcycle laid in pieces after my accident  I was not sure whether to fix it or bury it.    Congrats sweetie

Hehehehehe.... you win... altho 320 is a huge leap from the 80 I currently have... so I'll take it... and the HD compatible internal graphics card in the motherboard... mwhahaha.. no game is safe from me! *lol* Can we tell I'm still in the aftershocks from yesterday? yeesh.  Of course, it doesn't help that I've just spent the last 2 hours reading every single comic of Looking for Group. I is crazy now.

well did not break down on the side of the road on a regular basis  so not a harley ..lol.  Had a blow out of back tire doing 60.  Took it in the ditch to lay it down and the dip shit on the back jumped off leaving me front half heavy.  Hit a large rock  fliped me over the handle bars and fliped it landing it on me.   I can remember waking with some woman from across the street shaking the hell out of me saying are you ok  are you all right.   I got up and called my dad to come get me and he took me to the hospital, I refused the ambulance.  They wanted to cut my pants off me,  needles to say I took them off.  Was so funny  I had a bikini on under my pants and heavy coat cause we were all going swimming.  Burned my calf and tore the cartlidge between my ribs.  Next day was riding my bicycle even though was ordered to bed.  I never have listened to a Dr.  lol  Dad took the forks, bent in a half moon to work and put under the press and straightened them out and I put it all back togeather after I took it apart.  Ran great for a few more years till I upgraded.  No harley for me  I love Yamahas and susikis  Kaws  need to be turned into beer cans than at least they are doing something good.  lol  hondas about the same.  I rode for 22 years starting at 14.  Than a construction accident one day at work caused me to have 2 spinal fusions.  Well they told me I rode at my own risk.  If I ever had an accident I could break my spine were they fused it.  Sigh saddest day in my life giving up one thing I loved most.
