Good News
« on: February 21, 2010, 04:43:15 PM »
On March 19, I will become a 'Mother in Law' to a wonderful young woman who is marrying my son.  As some of you know, my son is a Marine, who served three tours of Iraq, and came back injured.  He had a great recovery, and, after his discharge, attended the Fire Academy, and is now a civilian contractor at a nearby Naval Air Base.  This morning, we drove to the Hotel near Yosemite Park where the wedding will take place, and tasted the food available, and decided on the menu.  My gown has arrived, and I am ready, except I need to haul hubby into the Tuxedo Shop so he can get his ordered.  (Smiles)  This is one wedding where I won't be playing cello, my quartet will be there, but a friend of mine will be covering for me.  (And, I hate to drop names, but he is the man who actually played the cello, and was the hands of Jamie Fox, in the movie 'The Soloist').  Please extend your best wishes to the young couple.  Thank you all, my family.

Congratulations Mistress!

One cultural custom of my People that You might like to think about while moving into the future with Your new "daughter"........ Mother-in-laws never "spoke" to their daughter/son -in-laws........

Now spoke is different here, it means about important stuff that is only between husband and wife.  Day to day visiting is of course okay.  But the important stuff of relationships, mother-in-laws stay out of, no taking sides that way!  It was a social custom that was used to keep peace in our tight knit communities.

*cheesy grin*  Of course, with all my strays, I have a hard time sticking to this.
