well one of the things I need to work on is knowing what decisions I can make on My own instead of always having to call a Manager and ask for help. I mean there have been a few times that it WAS something that I know and knew that I decide Myself, but I didnt think about it and called the Manager about it... its those types of situations that made her decide not to promote Me... which Im fine with. as long as they dont put this one ass hat in the position I'll be fine with who ever DOES get it, Im sure.

well the bad news first... I know kinda backwords. anyway, the ass hat that I DIDNT want to get the position... they offered it to him... but here's the kicker... HE TURNED IT DOWN!!... what I dont get... if you were hesitant about a position, didnt want the responsibility, liked your current position etc... WHY THE HELL APPLY FOR SUPEVISOR?!?!?!

sorry, hit submit before addng good news...

She has to make another decision as to who she wants to offer it to. I wish it was Me... but I have a feeling that she will pick someone else based on what she told Me before... but eh... at least I know what I need to work on.

Can you initiate a dialogue with her and counter her concerns with specific examples of leadership she may have forgotten? What about a couple of (hopefully free) online courses if your company doesn't offer them, like leadership or personal effectiveness? Also, maybe some procedures/rules need to be clarified so there will be less doubt on what responsibilities each person/chain of command has? I hope the disappointing/annoying news has now ended and you get good news next announcement.

Seri. there is a book called the one minute manager. you can get it at any book store.. its something that my husband has used in training managers in a retail setting. it helps a great deal.

well I havent had much time to take any of the lessens at work that My Manager wants me to yet. not with being the only one at the Desk and nobody to cover Me aside from My lunch... but on a better note...

My 15 year old Daughter(will be 16 on the 24th of May) has a job interview on Sunday at another McDonalds different than the one My son had an interview at. lol anyway. as I said before. We all have to start working somewhere. and as I hear it, having McDonalds as a first job always looks good on an application. on top of the school tuition they assist with down the line.

Good luck to your daughter.

As to your own situation, if you let the day to day responsibilities get in the way of longer term goals, time will just slip away and you will find that no progress has been made at all. I am sure you realize that, but sometimes it is good to be reminded. If your manager is serious about these lessons for you, then she should expect to have to support you in carving out the time necessary to pursue them.

Don't procrastinate. It's a hard habit to break.
