...I was a young, pre-teen when my family drove from CA to the East Coast. We saw many things along the way, and in S. Carolina, my two cousins showed me 'crabbing', and walking in the shallows at night, holding a small trident and a lantern, and spearing flatfish.
But, my most treasured memory was at Arlington. We watched the Guard precisely pace back and forth, for 40 minutes...and then there was the formal 'Changing of the Guard'...it was very solumn...and reverent. I still wonder, to this day, how Edward Younger felt, as he walked among several coffins...and decided which unknown soldier would be placed in the Monument.
