...This is one of the most beautiful works ever written, IMHO.
I almost failed a course at Conservatory...I play the cello very well...but I CAN'T SING!
I am an enthusiastic soprano, but I can't put two notes together...or get either one in tune.
We new students all HAD to sign up for Choral...and I was delighted!!! I wanted to practice singing.
This work was assigned, and I eagerly studied it...I was the Principal Cellist of the Student Orchestra...and I studied the music...and tried to learn the vocal part. About 5 weeks from the concert, the Vocal Professor called me to the side, and said..."Go practice the cello part..." I did, and then returned to the next class. He looked at me, and said..."Go practice the cello part." I left...
I returned to the next class, my cello hanging over my shoulder
...He nodded, and said, "Go practice, I will give you a 'C' for the class."
So, that is how I earned a 'C' in a class...it wasn't hard...but it blew my GPA...
