What a night...
« on: December 08, 2008, 11:46:03 PM »
It was the wee hours of the morning before Elspeth was finished with her briefing at the station.  Since she was the one involved in the incident, another investigator had to handle the crime scene.  She was up for hours filling out forms, going over her testimony.  Through it all, Dara stuck by her side, or as often as she was allowed.  She found a lawyer for her that hovered near Dara's desk in case he was needed.  What a true friend.

She told the police how the man in the makeup came up to her off the street not far from the Irish pub and that another guy tackled him and took something from the clown freak.  She gave chase into the alley.  The “thief” came out with hands up, saying he just took back what was stolen from him.  The clown came up behind them.  Words were exchanged.  She tried to give them the exact words.  Something was thrown, she fired, the “thief” fired twice, she fired again at the thief.  The clown freak got away, the “thief” tried too, but she gave chase since the clown freak had a head start.  As soon as he got in the cab she called it in.  She included detailed descriptions of both men.

The grilling continued longer.  She ended up typing out her own statement since she didn't like the speed the officer assigned to it took.  She signed it.  Her gun of course was taken for the time being.  Teach her to decide to go out for an evening of relaxation.  She'll just stick to her old war movies and Cheeto's from now on.

When it was over, she offered El a ride home, but El refused.  There was a cot in the room beside her office and a change of clothes in a bag tucked behind her desk, she would stay there.  She'd get more sleep that way.

She had barely laid her head down when her cellphone rang.  She looked at the number and sighed.  Damn it.  How did he find out so quick.  She answered.  It was Robert on the other end and boy was he furious.  He lit into her before she got a word in.  El being El, she didn't take too kindly to it at all.  The moment her husband paused for breath, she launched in with a few things to say herself.  She had remained silent for most of the week following Thanksgiving, but now she's had a gut full of it.

By the time she hangs up, she's good an riled, so she gets back up and heads back to her office.  She might as well get something productive done.

Reading Elspeth wises statement regarding her situation earlier this week, I make a note to try and talk to both her and Dara.....   see if there's anything I can do to help find this guy playing the Joker. We can't have dangerous clowns like that running the streets.

That "thief" is a totally different matter. He might be an undercover agent that couldn't surrender and blow his cover.
