dear kay................
I have been watching AMC (American Movie Classics) on TV with Sherlock Holmes/ Dr. Watson in old movies w/ Basil Rathbone as Holmes.
A little story about Holmes and Watson, now:
Seems Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine they retired for the night and go to sleep. A few hours later, Holmes wakes Watson and says: “Watson look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”
“I see million&million of stars, Holmes”, replies Watson.
“And what do you deduce from that?”, asks Holmes.
Watson thinks a minute and wants to correctly answer Holmes and says: “Well, astronomically I see million of galaxies and possible billion of planets. Astrologically, I see Saturn as Leo. Homologically, the time is quarter past 3AM. Meteorologically, I suspect It will be a great day tomorrow because no clouds are in the nite sky and theologically, I see GOD as all powerful and we are small and insignificant. So Holmes what do you see?”
Holmes is quiet for a moment. “Watson you
idiot!” he says.
“
Someone has stolen our tent!”
I am (we’all are) so like Watson…………. I (we) get all the details (knowledgeable bits&pieces), lists and summaries and little things right; but FAIL to answer/deduce THE BIG QUESTION:? I (we) can’t see the obvious!
Do you ever feel like that, kay?
If so ……… maybe we should step back a little further……………….. change our viewpoint and imagine the possible outcomes, we are missing.
