It was late when his plane finally managed to land.  Delays, delays, delays.  Cost him a night that he'd been planning for a while.  As frustrated as he had been, it was out of his hands.  He stopped by his place only to pick up the gift he left behind.  He had assumed he would have been back Friday night, but he missed his flight due to complications on the photo shoot and couldn't get another out until Saturday morning and even that one had delays; both on initial take off and the connecting flight.

He found the gift she had left.  Laughing, he put on his new jacket before picking up a small duffel bag.  After a moment of thought, he unzipped it to make sure Leslie picked up the things he asked for.  Yep.  Good ol' dependable sis.  A cab fare later, he was letting himself into Isabella's home.  He looked around for her, but found her fast asleep in her bed with a book across her chest.  Poor thing, probably thought he forgotten all about her.  As quietly as he could, he slipped out of his jacket, placing the back of a chair near her vanity.  He slowly, quietly unzipped his duffel bag and went to work.  Each time she's shift her foot or make a noise, he's freeze and wait for her to settle down again before he continued.  It took a painstaking hour, but he got the effect he wanted.

There were lit candles all around on various shelves and surfaces.  Her bed was saturated in rose petals of varying shades from red to pale pink.  At the foot of the bed were three small gift wrapped boxes; one containing a nice silk negligee, another had a new dress watch that he saw on his trip and just had to get her, the other had information on a small cruise for this summer.  He had arranged a yacht trip.  Fully manned that will tour the Mediterranean for two weeks.   That would give him ample time to insure she came back to the city tanned, refreshed, and all smiles.

He gently lifted the book off her chest, taking time to mark her page.  In it's place he put a single rose.  He cast one last look to make sure everything was perfect.  Nervously he rubbed his hands on his jeans.  Here goes nothing.  Hopefully she won't whack him too hard for being late.  Technically he only had ten more minutes of Valentines' Day with her.  He carefully sat on the edge of the bed, trying to be careful the doesn't disturb her.  He gently brushed his fingers along her cheek.

“Wake up Beautiful.”
