Bengals first-round pick Smith breaks foot

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Less than two days after finally signing his rookie contract with the Bengals, offensive lineman Andre Smith fractured his foot in Tuesday's practice and will be out indefinitely.
"Andre suffered a small fracture in his left foot during a non-contact drill," said Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis in a statement. "Our medical staff tells me the injury will not require surgery. It's too soon to closely predict how long it will be before he can return to practice. But it looks like he's going to miss a few weeks."
The sixth overall pick in this season's draft out of Alabama, Smith had just signed a deal that was reportedly worth up to $42 million after a 30-day holdout. He was the second to last first-round pick to agree to terms, with San Francisco's Michael Crabtree the lone holdout remaining.
The Bengals have had terrible luck when it comes to their top draft picks and injuries, as Smith becomes the fifth top pick in six years to suffer a major injury in his rookie season.
if it werent for bad luck..the damn Bengals would have no luck at all...-shakes head-
