DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN....

WERE THERE SOME NAILBITERS THIS WEEK OR WHAT??!!!

I have spoken with a few people thus far this season, and did I call it or what!!! Some of these teams came out fighting and loaded for bear this week!!! If every week has the excitement overall that this week held for us, it will be a good season.

I knew the preseason games were not going to be a real measure of the teams. They were exactly what they should have been for the most part. A closer look at potential, deciding factors, experimentation, and preps for when it really counts. Then this weeks openers.... BOOM!!! The majority came out swinging.

Though some teams could not move the ball if they had stamped, addressed it, and dropped it in a mailbox, the wins and losses did not really tell the whole story. Some of these games went right down to the wire. There was alot of good old fashioned smashmouth ball happening... still mistakes were being made but those will be ironed out if at all possible.

Unfortunately there was a boatload of injuries across the boards. Some key personnel are out... some measured in weeks, some for the season. Talk about a letdown. It always sucks to get hurt, but the first real game of the season bites the big one.

Sportsmanship and tempers were pretty much held in check. I like to see that. Get fired up. Get pissed. Hit hard, but when the whistle blows turn it off, and when the game is over leave it on the field. Naturally there was some shoving and growling, but I didnot see any real fights or brawls. I did see a few dirty shots, but thankfully those were few.

Overall I would have to say it was a pretty great week.

BAH!

Just cause you aren't old enough to appreciate the throwback uniforms, or the time when wearing them meant something.. LOL

Anyone know why the refs were wearing the red and white stripped uniforms... Ray and I were guessing they were wearing them so you could see them on the field, but I don't think that's the reason... Possibly a new look, because well, it's now harder NOT to see them and have them ended up run over by a player who's either running down field or one that is in tackle mode...

Any thoughts, or anything about the change in uniforms?

I only saw glimpses of the chargers vs raiders game... I just assumed since the raiders were wearing black and white the refs wore something different... but were all the refs wearing the funky pinky/orangy colors?

They were wearing the red/white stripped shirts during the first part of MNF, Patriots vs Bills, so no, it wasn't because of that... Am still in the process of trying to find out the answer, as it's gotta be somewhere on the web...
