Computer Problems
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:38:34 PM »
I have run into some major computer problems just now with my computer.  I've been having problems with it lately, it's rather old..  so my online time has been cut down dramatically til I can either fix this or get another computer.  I have a laptop, but it's about as old.  Think I'm just going to have to break down and get a new computer.  Hopefully will manage to get to that this week sometime.  Or weekend.

Miss you all and see you all soon I hope.

Hope to see you soon, Merci.  You will be astonished at what these newer computers can do, and how fast they are.

Take care.

Depending on what issues you have with your computer Merci, you can make it faster as long as it is up to date on scheduled tasks and defrags.  Trust me in that I can make a 10 year old computer just as fast as a Wal-Mart/Kmart bought one.  My suggestion to you is do what Disk Cleanup, Disk Defrags you can, and even download Advanced SystemCare Free from download.com.  Install and run it, then do a Maintain Windows, then Diagnose System.  That is to get you started.

Even moving the crap thats built up on the system will help too. I organize and clean my system, whenever it starts to lag. Backing up lots of info on disks? Will also help, and give you a little more time to save up for the new system. Or whatever else it is you wish to do about the old pos you have had for frelling EVER!..-small grin, hugs up mah sis-..

see ya on the flipside darlin.

Agrees wholeheartedly with both Raz and Sarant... As long as you do as they suggested, your computer will last for a long time...

Thank you both for the suggestions.  I will definately be able to use them.

I've been expecting to have to upgrade for a while anyways, just didnt expect it this soon.  I try to keep up on the clean ups, defrags, sweeps, scans, etcetc..  Do fairly decently on them too..  amazingly enough.  The computer just had gotten to the point that I could no longer run some of my daughters games on it since it just didnt have the specs for them.  And they were simple games, like the Nancy Drew stuff.

Anyways, up and running again..  so should be around this weekend in camp.  -crosses fingers-

OOOOoooooooohhhh.  suggestions for good antivirus and antispyware stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that is one of the more problematic things with the newer games, even the ones that only require that you pay $10-20 a game... Then again, if you saw the list of games that my hubby, Ray, plays, then you would understand why he throws temper-tantrums while it's trying to access said games.. ~laughs and coughs~ I would just like a computer to be able to run second life, because my bro-in-law and wife have a business that they run on there and make a decent amount of side money... It keeps her busy when their daughter is in school and she has nothing else to do during the day... ~chuckles~

There may be those that disagree, but I use the free version of AVG on my system.

I use Avast, which is just as good as AVG, as it too is also free... Just stay away from Norton, haven't liked them since they allowed NIMDA onto not only hubby's computer, but also allowed it to snake through the network connection between the two and infect my computer... That was the worst 48 hours of our lives... ~shudders and growls~

Oohh.  Norton..HISSSBOO  -grumbles and grumps on that one-  I hate Norton.  Bad experiences with it in the past.

hmmmmmmm...will look into the AVG and Avast, thank you both for the suggestions!   :-* :) ;)

Honestly....I can say I've never gotten around Second Life.  although I have heard of it...  but yes, omg..games these days take up and expect so much of computer space and graphics..  I'm just amazed.  -lol-  Maybe I can play a couple of the ones I got for Christmas now on this computer!   bad thing is, I tend to get intersted and forget about everything else when I play new games..

Wow...some folks simply dont read computer pc, pc world or anything of the sort eh?

Careful of what you think is good, because it actually leaves backdoors open that hardly anyone knows about.

Pick up some mags and read about tested software, that is where you will get your best info and advise.

And again, thank you all!
