...Years ago, our community orchestra did a special 'Pops' Concert. The music was all vocal, the singers were all young people, from the HS and Jr College. We accompanied them as they sang a song, and most were as you expect. They sang the notes, and it was OK. A few did really stand out!
During the Dress Rehearsal, a very handsome young man sang this song, and decided that I was the OBJECT of his affection!
He didn't just stand and sing, he walked to where I was sitting...as Principal Cello...and looked at me and sang the song to me. He also walked around, and at times placed his hand on my shoulder as he sang...and I was playing. A few times, he even stood in front of my stand...and gazed at me...
At the end, the Conductor looked at him...I was leaning over my cello and trying not to laugh too hard...and said..."Well sung...but work on your choreography!" At the concert, when I was sitting in the Green Room checking my makeup and hair, one of the other cellists said..."Go for him, Cougar, if he sings that to you again like that." I simply said..."He is WAY too young...I couldn't buy him a drink...and sitting at Burger King eating french fries just doesn't work for me anymore."
