The fear for the Völva is still very much alive and kicking. Her ways of practicing witchcraft is not like others. It has been this way for over 1,500 years and it won’t change now or anytime soon. The Völva is a strong, stubborn, free and wild woman. She’ll refuse to change for any human. Even the gods won’t make her change who & what she is. Nor would they ever ask it of her. For they love and respect the Völva the way she is. This is why they choose to have such a close connection to her. This will always create fear and jealousy in other people. Did she, or will the Völva, ever care? No she won’t. For a true Völva with any respect for her craft and the blessings from the gods she receives regularly will never waver or change just to please others. Just because they’re jealous and want what she has. Or because they’re scared of her and acting like cowards. Don’t mistake the Völva’s strength for a cold, unfeeling heart. You would be wrong. You would also be wrong in assuming that the Völva hates people and makes no room for errors and human mistakes. She does. Much more than anyone realizes. But what the Völva also have is a low tolerance for ignorance, stupidity, toxic and cowardly behavior. As a seer she will read your energy like an open book and there’s no place to truly hide from her gaze. No matter the distance you try to create between the two of you, how well you try to hide it and no matter how successfully you lie to other people there is one you’ll never be able to hide from or lie to. The Völva. Just as the gods her sense of humor can be a bit on the special side. So she most likely will give you a long rope to play with and she’ll sit there quietly observing your foolish and misplaced arrogance as you think you fool the entire world. She knows and have known all along. She’s just toying with you. Once the Völva grow tired of it all and it’s no longer entertaining she will, when the timing is right, cut the rope and watch you fall and make an ass of yourself. And most probably she’ll be a bit amused again for a short moment.
Waste of her time & energy and all misuse of it is something the Völva won’t ever tolerate or accept. This steals her focus away from the gods and from nurturing the connection she has with them. In return for helping the gods the Völva receives gifts and blessings in abundance. Why should she stand idly by while jealous, scared and immature humans tries to get in the way of that? The answer to this is easy. She won’t!
