On the evening of Friday, October 6th, I examined the slave female, chanz, who had been complaining of sharp, stabbing pains in the left side of her face and head.  These pains were causing headaches and blurred vision in the left eye.  As we know, chanz was head-butted in the rear by a verr, which caused her to fall on her face and break her nose and her upper left front tooth.

My examination consisted of gently pressing the left side of chanz's face while she rated her pain level.  There was an extreme amount of pain caused by pressing the left side of the facial bone, directly between chanz's nose and upper lip.  When I pressed the left sinus cavity beneath chanz's eye, she cried out and involuntarily backed away in response to the pain.  However, pressing the upper left sinus cavity, above chanz's eyebrow, produced no pain.

I concluded that the slave female known as chanz has a hairline fracture of the facial bone, directly above the site of the chipped tooth.  This fracture has caused a sinus infection, which is in turn causing the pain, headaches, and blurred vision.  chanz is on an antibiotic regimen three times a day for the next three days.  She has been instructed to press hot rags to her face for the next two days to help draw out the infection and soothe the inflamed tissues.  She will use cold rags on the third day.  After this, the infection should be fully healed.  The hairline fracture of the bone should then heal on its on, without further medical attention or harmful side-effects. chanz will also be drinking willow bark tea to manage her pain.  She is to serve in all capacities, save that she is not allowed to run while her face heals.

Tonight, my chanz found jale in an otherwise abandoned wagon. In the process of trying to remove her collar, she cut her throat.  chanz found her in time to help me slow the bleeding and we got her to the med wagon where I put an IV in her and helped the healers regain control of the bleeding.  jale has since been intubated since she aspirated blood and was having troubel moving air, her volume loss is being replaced with constant IV fluids, her wounds have been stitched and dressed and the damaged vessels were mended with fine gut, pepper and pressure.  I'm staying by the bedside tonight, but there will be a guard placed on jale until Kels makes decision on wheather She wishes the guards to be removed.

Having returned from a medical emergency in one of the outer wagons, Kelsey now remains at the cot of her girl.

last night I tended to a wound on Ragnar's leg.  He and HAMMER had a run in with a bull.

I cleaned out the wound and packed it....the packing should be changed several times a day for the next couple days.....once it is ensured an infection doesn't developed it can be stitched closed....

Ragnar's calf is extremely bruised and swollen.....after his second bath (wrings out my braid), I repacked the wound (no sign of infection) and covered it...then moss paste was applied to the bruising....I did leave inswtructions for HIm to keep the leg propped up and to wash the past off in the morning

Poppa decided enough was enough with the packing, and tore it out, and instructed me to stitch it..and stitch it now.  Which I did...inside and out.  Bandaged his calf to keep the stitches clean and dry..with strict instructions to not overdue it..and to have the bandages changed twice a day...He was to make time to do this..not just ignore the need for the changes because there "wasn't time".

An Outrider was reported missing after he failed to return from his watch.  Investigation on the part of his Unit determined that he had suffered a run-in with an angry kailiauk which had resulted in an arrow-riddled kailiauk, a dead kaiila, and the Outrider pinned beneath his fallen mount.  The attack took place on the banks of our river, and the man had lain half-submerged in the cold water for many hours.  He was brought to camp suffering from exposure, his skin a grey-blue, unconscious and barely breathing, one leg obviously broken.

I heated saline for his IV drip, which Mistress Kelsey then inserted.  The Outrider was wrapped in many warm furs, and his Woman and enfant Child were then allowed to see him.  Once the visitation was over, I assessed the leg, finding the precise location and angle of the snapped shin bone.  I assisted my Mistress with setting and splinting the leg.

The two of us then left the stabilized Outrider in the care of an Apprentice and sought our sleep.

Two others may report for care -- a slave girl who ripped several fingernails off one hand while wrestling with a heavy cask, and an aged free woman who slipped and fell bumping on her tailbone down her wagon step while sweeping snow from them.

treated vika{MTC} for a sprained ankle, seems she twisted it when she came into camp last night and was using snow packs to reduce the swelling, Ubar gave her willow bark to help with the pain as well... I checked it out tonight, applied black moss paste and wrapped it... I have her restricted from serving for the next day or two, I will recheck it tomorrow to see how it's healing

Perhaps two days ago, I treated a visiting Master for an arrow wound in his thigh.  The injury had been incurred some one month earlier and had festered.  There was pus and dead flesh about the broken arrow shaft still lodged in the wound.  The Master's peferred method of pain relief was the Paga he was drinking.  I began the procedure while the Master sat at the main fire.  I sliced in front of and in back of the arrow and removed it as swiftly as possible, then disinfected the wound and cut away the necrotic tissues.  When I was certain that only healthy tissue remained, I applied antibiotic salve and internal and external stitches, then bandaged the leg.  (NPC) thralls then took the Master to the Medical Wagon to prevent him from lapsing into further shock, as he had started to shiver.  He was given a follow-up exam by Mistress Kelsey some hours later.

I examined Taryn last night......checking ehr general health, measuring her belly.....I detectd two distinct heartbeats and she got to hear them for the first time....I drew blood to confirm that there are only two babies

Taryn has no complaints.......the morning sickenss is pretty much gone....she is more tired than usual, but that is certainly to be expected as her body is nourishing her babies.

I had to perform surgery on Furaan after he fell onto the ice from the nice ice/sleet storm that came in quickly from the Thassa tonight, he would have been okay if he wasn't carrying my med bag, landing on it on his left side, he broke a rib that nicked his lung, placing a chest tube in first, thinking that would take care of the problem, it wasn't to be, so I had to go in and suture the hole in his lung...

we are in the freight wagon, I have him on an IV giving him fluids to replace the blood that he has lost, he's warm, thanks to Malefic who was drawn to where we were by a white plains owl.. in the morning I will have the Outriders help me take him into the med wagon... I will be staying up with him all night to make sure he's doing well... he was also given a shot of valerian to ease the pain...

While taking refuge from the ice storm within DRAGONSLAIR, I noticed that Mistress Megaera was bleeding slightly from a wound at her hair line.  It turns out that she fell headlong into DRAGONSLAIR's steps while attempting to enter the wagon, incurring a concussion and slightly splitting her scalp.  The wound was not deep and required no stitches, though she has a nice purple vulo's egg.

The Mistress threatened to lapse into deep unconsciousness shortly after I noticed her injury.  Her speech was slurred and incoherant, at times.  I slapped and shook the Mistress awake, then placed Blue Grass/Agrimony salve on the wound and bandaged her head.  I gave her heavily sweetened black wine to assist with alertness, and Mistress Sidona and I kept her talking.

I then accompanied Master Dylan into the storm in search of Mistress Malefic.  My healing abilities were not needed for the Mistress, who was battling an oil fire in a the freight wagon which contained our dung stores, but rather for Master Furaan, who was holed up in another wagon with Mistress Taryn.  I accompanied Master Dylan back to DRAGONSLAIR, as he bore the injured Master in his arms and Mistress Taryn followed.
