On the evening of Friday, October 6th, I examined the slave female, chanz, who had been complaining of sharp, stabbing pains in the left side of her face and head. These pains were causing headaches and blurred vision in the left eye. As we know, chanz was head-butted in the rear by a verr, which caused her to fall on her face and break her nose and her upper left front tooth.
My examination consisted of gently pressing the left side of chanz's face while she rated her pain level. There was an extreme amount of pain caused by pressing the left side of the facial bone, directly between chanz's nose and upper lip. When I pressed the left sinus cavity beneath chanz's eye, she cried out and involuntarily backed away in response to the pain. However, pressing the upper left sinus cavity, above chanz's eyebrow, produced no pain.
I concluded that the slave female known as chanz has a hairline fracture of the facial bone, directly above the site of the chipped tooth. This fracture has caused a sinus infection, which is in turn causing the pain, headaches, and blurred vision. chanz is on an antibiotic regimen three times a day for the next three days. She has been instructed to press hot rags to her face for the next two days to help draw out the infection and soothe the inflamed tissues. She will use cold rags on the third day. After this, the infection should be fully healed. The hairline fracture of the bone should then heal on its on, without further medical attention or harmful side-effects. chanz will also be drinking willow bark tea to manage her pain. She is to serve in all capacities, save that she is not allowed to run while her face heals.
