...I never got this bad when I played cello in this piece... :)...but I WAS TEMPTED!!!!!!!!!!!! ::)  Once, I was called by a professional cellist to take his place in a wedding quartet.  I briefly greeted the other three players in the Church when I arrived, and looked through the wedding program, and matched my music up with the order of the music.  I couldn't find the Pachebel sheet music, and quietly asked if we were going to perform it.   :P  The 1st Violinist gave me a surprised look, and asked..."Haven't you MEMORIZED the ENTIRE piece BY NOW?"  The violist smirked at me, and said..."I will call out the notes as we go along."   I refrained from 'going Panther' on them...I was wearing a nice, new white dress, and didn't want to have to wash red stains out of it.  I simply said, "If I mess up the two opening measures...I will drop out."

...Seeks out Rick...Holding the endpin of my cello like a dagger... ;D

...Most cellos have sharp metal endpins that retract inside of the cello when the cello is not being played.  I have an Austrian cello made in 1853 that has a removable endpin.  The sharp metal rod is inside a wooden holder that plugs into the bottom of the cello, and then the metal rod can be extended as needed.  When setting up, I always take the wooden holder, and shake it hard, once, and the metal rod emerges with a sharp 'SNAP' sound, and then I tighten the wingnut holding the rod in place and then plug it into the cello.  If I have a new stand partner, he or she will give me plenty of room to sit, and will turn the pages of the music very efficiently.   ;)
