i watered and fed my Mistress's bosk, with the help of some other slaves and thralls; i also learned the right amount to give each bosk: three buckets of water, two buckets of grain feed, and one bale of grass hay per bosk.

after checking in with my Mistress, i also greased the axles of Her wagon and tidied the sleeping area a bit before getting some rest myself.

waking late, as the wagons were moving across the endless sea of a dust covered world, she took the reigns from her Mistress, so She might sleep awhile, and drove through the mostly eventful night. as dawn broke, the wagons came to a slow stop in the rocky terrain as the wagons creep ever closer to the River of Tears. taking the time to tend to the bosk, as leo and tatiana (both NPC'd) greased the axles, and checked the wheels for any signs of damage before they finally made it to the commissary wagon and got some fruit for the early meal. Mistress Sah, gave this one a melon and a fresh bota to be shared between her Mistress, and Master Terran, and was actually shared by Master Cassius as well as He joined in the early morning meal before she finally curled up and slept, resting for the next leg of the journey.

elle helped the thralls to feed her Mistress's bosk, then checked their hooves and skin (where the yoke rubs against them); all appeared well. she also managed time to be seen by a slave healer regarding the drying and cracking of her feet out here on the plains.

this girl drove her Mistress's wagon while being quizzed about the foods of the Tuchuk. When the column stopped, this girl checked and greased the axles of her Mistress's wagon, then groomed the bosk.

Today, I took the command to conserve energy very much to heart.  I indulged in a huge bowlful of Mistress Sahara's bosk stew while overlooking the thrall-monitored grazing of my Master's wagon bosk, then bathed as well as I could with the rain water collected in a stretched-out oilskin.  Discovering that a rotting tabuk carcass alongside the wagon was making my respite nigh unbearable, I had NYTEMARE dispose of the remains, kaiila-style - thus ensuring that the beast was fed before the river crossing.  I then amused myself with a bit of bosk bone carving, creating a wagon wheel charm.  I stretched out for a nap, but it was not to be; my Master's Scarrer Clan thralls simply made too much noise with their wheel greasing and bosk hitching.  I must admit that I was both relieved and puzzled to find this duty undertaken by other slaves.  The mystery was soon solved when the (NPC) Scarrer Clan thrall, temur, announced that my Master had commanded that I would make the river crossing astride NYTEMARE this eve, while temur himself drove the wagon.  I immediately saddled the mare and threaded the nose rein through her nostril.  I currently await the movement of the column and a hoped-for glimpse of my Master.

this night rt kept me busy for most of it, but i did manage to come in and help gather remains out of the dry riverbed and unhitch the bosk team from the wagon when the command to camp for the night came through.

Last eve, I made an uneventful three pasang trek to the RoT astride NYTEMARE, then bore witness to the initial recovery of Tuchuk remains from the depleted river.  (In NPC terms, we will assume that I tended the mare before assisting with the recovery efforts; in RT, I had to head off to bed.)

I am grateful to have survived the River of Tears, sustaining only minor injuries in the form of scrapes of bruises.

While navigating the downward slope, NYTEMARE took a tumble over a thrall who slipped and fell directly in our path.  I was thrown from the saddle and dragged the rest of the way down the slope thanks to my death-grip on NYTEMARE's rein.  I was able to re-mount once we reached the shallow water, and the rest of the crossing was exhausting but uneventful.  NYTEMARE is tired and bears a few scrapes of her own, but she is sound.

The thrall wasn't quite so lucky. -cough-

Last night i managed to drive the Vinter's freight wagon acroll the RoT for the first time. The yoke for the lead pair of bosk snapped in the middle of the dry riverbed before the water, so sienna (my new NPC buddy) and i had to change the yoke in place, then we continued across, and up the other side. The long arduous crossing is over for now, until next migration, Turia here we come! First time i have been back since i stowed away in the merchant;s wagon and ended up stranded on the plains, then captured by my Master. i hope i am not seen by my Father.....

having managed to sleep through the RoT crossing, this one awoke refreshed tonight, plastered to the hide wall of my Mistress' wagon. after crawling her way to the box and relieving leo from the reigns, this one managed to get coax the team up the incredibly steep grade. after pausing to rest abit on the grassy flat, we all made it down in one peice and uneventfully. as the wagons rolled to a stop, everyone tired, and weary from the trek so far, water and food becoming dangerously low yet again Master Ubar decided to press onwards through the night. a quiet wagon ride ensued before making camp outside the city walls in our seasonal parking spot. as leo and tatiana slept, this one snagged a passing thrall, having him help remove the harness and tongue, setting them out for inspection when the sun rises. this one then checked over the team of bosk, finding all but one healthy and strong, Boris, the young bull seems to have a funny swelling along the tendons in his right foreleg. thoughtfully marking him for easy identification in the morning with a strip torn from her koora, tied in a lil bow on his nose ring. that seemed to catch BERAT's eye however, and He wandered over to my Mistress' wagon, turning it into a scratching post. (makes note to check the wheels and undercarriage after all that rubbing) finally able to draw Him away, and get Him something to drink, making sure to keep scritching Him all the while, and artfully dodging the snot flying as He cleared the dust from His nose. hunger grew, and the girl headed to the commissary wagons, to beg an old peach to tide her over till the time comes to head into Turia. again BERAT decided to use my Mistress' wagon for a scratching post, until wandering back over, and tugging Him gently by His nose ring. with Her wagon safe for the moment, this one plopped down to the grasses while BERAT got His belly full as well before both beasts fells asleep in the wee hours of the morning.

Today, I ate a light meal of fruit and fed the cores to the first milk verr I found tied to a wagon porch.  It was with great delight that I discovered I had come to the wagon of the very same woman who was once so displeased by my Master's kaiila eating her previous milk verr.  I spent several minutes of delightful discourse with the woman, whose mood seems to have much improved since the repayment of two tabuk hides which allowed the purchase of her current verr.  I then renewed the acquaintance of Master Davenport.

Afterwards, I gathered a change of clothes and various toiletries, then collected the bath house ticket and 20 coppers from the Treasury Wagon and made my way with the stream of other Tuchuks heading through the city gates.
