Sighs
« on: October 23, 2007, 07:42:18 PM »
As asked in the prayers and thoughts section, I posted about the fires in California... There are more fires starting up by the hour, hell, I was talking to my mom this afternoon and two DC-10 flew over their house delivering water to one of three fires that are burning around them... they aren't threatened, but my aunt and my cousins can't get to their homes in Oceanside, as they are in evacuated areas, they tried to go home after work, without knowledge of the fires near their homes... the damn tv stations were covering Malibu most of the time, or Lake Arrowhead, and so no one knew that San Diego was in worst condition... ~shakes my head~

My aunt is staying with my parents, my cousins are staying with their sisters not far from where another fire started up this morning... I still haven't gotten a hold of a friend who lives near the Malibu fire, though I am hoping he's just taking care of things around his and his mom's place... And yet another friend lives in San Diego, and he has fires burning around him, to the point he can't leave his house because the roads are either blocked off, or solid grid lock...

I will use this thread to keep everyone updated, as I can... as I only get online for short periods of time during the day, or late at night... I am mostly on the phone to either my mom or my sister getting updates...

Alright here is some info!!!

I live in the san carlos area of San Diego..... its very central and during the cedar fires of 03' the fire burned mission trails and up the back of cowles mountian about a 1/4 of a mile from my house.

This time around the fires are being contained faster and smarter then the cedar fires were, but some areas like north of the 15 are about to be able to go home, i didnt get evacuated but lakeside did and its about 10 miles away,  mostly its eastern and nothern of the sandiego county.... alot of places are with out electricty..... and they are not stopping... ramona is on fire the san diego wild animal park is on fire...... the winds keep changing and there doesent seem to be a soon end..... the pomerado hospital was evacuated..... san diego has now been considered a offical disaster area so tomorrow morning, we are going to get more military help to have drop planes.... there is an estimated 1 mil people forced from their homes..... last i heard the san diego population is 2.5 mil..... almost half of san diego county evacuated...... most schools are closed for the rest of the week.......

the biggest problems are that the wind keeps changing.... the really fast winds from the weekend is what caused the fires to spread so quickly.....

thousands of homes have been dystroyed...... but at last i heard there was only one fatality.....
