This Week's Gossip
With Joe Black finally gone around 1:00 am last Sunday, I set the alarm for 8:00 am so I'd be up in time for a shower and dressed before Furio drove up with Diego in the limo. Diego used his cell phone to advise me they were pulling up at the Plaza Hotel and I hurried down to crawl in back as Furio held the door. Diego smiled as I nibbled one of the blueberry bagels he had waiting, simply asking if I enjoyed last night. Yes, he had the New York Times in his hand and was reading my column.
Our New York Giants managed to make fewer mistakes than the San Francisco 49ers over in the Meadowlands and wound up with a 29-17 win in a close game. While the fans had a lot to cheer about, this game wasn't pretty for either team, especially San Francisco, which turned over the ball three times, allowed six sacks, a safety and had 13 penalties for 134 yards. Combined it handed New York 19 points. Things are much more fun with Diego after the Giants win.
On Wednesday night a cat fight broke out between Yvette Beauvais and "The French Lady and the Hood" movie producer, Vicki Jenkins. I was standing close enough to overhear most of it, so although it was Yvette that threw the dazzling punch, it was certainly Vicki that provoked it. Since Vicki is still on probation with the law, I don't see her filing an official complaint. Vicki wound up landing in one of the cast support food tables, wearing a pie in the face to boot.
She rose screaming that she was no longer funding the movie so they were all fired. I made a fast call and set up a meeting with a close friend that says he's willing to fund the movie, but has to remain anonymous. On Thursday we had a short meeting with Angela Black, Citibank president, who contacted Thomas Quinn, a well to do business man.
On Saturday night I was present at the Four Season where a meeting took place upstairs. Thomas Quinn has agreed to split the cost of the production as well as the promising profits. He will be the face known as the producer and will meet with Lions Gate Entertainment Inc. people and the director, Allen Short, to get things rolling again. Angela left with Thomas promising to show him her personal wall sex capabilities. Is Angela hoping for a part in the movie? My guess is yes!
Diego offered to take me home to spend the night since we'll be catching a plane to Pittsburgh on Sunday morning to watch our New York Giants face the Pittsburgh Steelers ay Heinz Field. As usual, we'll be staying at the home of Pittsburgh business man, Peter Genovese, and then attending the game in his luxury suite. Wonder what else might happen there?
I declined Diego's offer to spend the night since I really needed some rest, but assured him I'd be up and ready when his limo arrived at the Plaza Hotel. I also wanted to stay at the Four to watch Jason and Yvette kiss since they were discussing their potential roles on the movie. They were pretty cute.
I wrapped up my column, faxed it in, and was in bed alone for a good night's rest by midnight.
Entertainment
This Tuesday night, October 28th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be dark as Rachel continues to run her plays sporadically. She plans to stay closed until we're sure we can finish a ninety minute play uninterrupted.
